Talking $5K for a 30 year old car? Sure!

Just bought a ' 73 450SE for $5 large.

Original owner, all records: 72,450 miles, original paint (light metallic green), tan leather. A tear in one seat panel in the back.
A crack (just where you put your elbow) on the driver's door panel. One dime-size parking lot ding (paint not cracked) per side.

New tires, air & fuel filters, tranny service, coolant & a/c services, new distributer, power lock assys., plugs, wires & cap, brakes were done within 5K. Cruise, power windows, sunroof, etc. all work perfectly. Drives like a dream. Good power, oil pressure, doesn't overheat...

Does this mean I'm now a "collector"?

How bad did I get taken? Bought this from a guy as he was taping the "FOR SALE" sign in the window for the 1st time.

Sounds Good to me

looks like a good deal to me, or you could get a new car for $500 a month for 60 months=$30K and it would not drive as nice as the car you bought and nobody would notice...

Hey Storminorman,,,, I see you have a ZX-11. I had 2 of those suckers A 90, which my wife ran over and broke the frame, and a 92. Rode those bikes all over the U.S. and had a great time.

Lightbulb I'll borrow my buddy's digital camera...

..and post a couple pic's early next week when I get the car home.

PJG56 - The Big Zed's were all brutal bikes! If MY wife ran over mine I would really make her pay (for a replacement!)

Cheers!

You did the right thing - W116's are GREAT cars! Built when MB was still in over-engineering mode. I've dismantled one into tiny bits for restoration (rust here in waterlogged UK), and believe me, they don't cut corners. Sit back and enjoy your investment!

About right in good condition. Very nice car, really cheap for what you get, as nothing like it is made anymore.
