Convertibles and baldness

Did it ever occur to you that drivers of convertibles are almost always bald or balding?
Or is it just me?

I'm not bald or balding, but what's wrong with it?

And no.

Actually, I thought I'd noticed that all convertible drivers were middle-to-later aged men wearing khaki baseball caps (you know the type, no logo, no color, just a khaki hat). This phenomenon seems particularly ubiquitous when encountering the more expensive models of convertible available. Most often you will see Dodge Viper convertibles featuring the aforementioned middle-to-older aged men, sporting a brown suede leather bomber jacket and complete with grey hair tucked neatly into a plain khaki baseball cap.

No offense to anyone is intended by my playful description. It is something I've noticed, however.

All that driving with the top down blows the hair off them.

It's a proven fact . . . baldness is caused by too much . . . testosterone!

Maybe it's because they finally have no hair for the wind to ruin. I guess this is one of the few positive aspects of male pattern baldness.

Zach,,,, gotta admit I fit your description exactly except my baseball cap says DEA on the front of it. Given to me by one of my customers who works for the Justice Dept. I think that for most people it just takes longer to be able to buy an expensive convertible, at least in my case it did. By the way, I am bald also.

I think it's more likely that expensive convertibles are being enjoyed by the elderly set...that are more apt to afford such a vehicle...

My Dad criticized my purchases of such convertibles as "extravagant" (owned a convertible Jag XJS prior to the SL).

I've always felt I would like to still be alive and kicking when I motor around in a convertible...by the time I start graying, I won't be able to climb in and out of one anyway, and the "couches on wheels" will start to look appealing!

I agree that all my informal "study" proves is that expensive convertibles are, well....real expensive and that usually it's the older and consequently more successful types that can afford to drive them. And hey, the minute I reach those happy ranks, I'll be the first to slap on the khaki hat and bomber jacket and join them!
