Talking The Movie Ronin

Well, we had the monthly movie night.

About 15 friends together, along with my good friend Scott (who is a car and weapon nut like me)

That movie...wow..it is seriously one of the coolest movies around. The 450SEL 6.9 smoking tires and then totally spinning around, flying through 1 lane streets at 100 MPH. The Peugeots and Citroen Turbos just going nuts, the AUDI S8 demonstrating the off road capabilities, and the BMW M5 being brough up to full throttle, engine revving as the woman driving it keeps it from going into 5th...

Then the weapons

Colt 1911's, SIG-551 Assault Rifles, Walther Pistols, Berettas, Glocks...wow

Lets just say at some times throughout the movie many of the ladies there got a little peeved that at both of our comments, pointing out cool cars and guns, discussing the pros and cons of the ammunition, discussing how great the 6.9 was (and how it was the coolest car in the movie)

If you haven't seen this movie..get it. I read up later on, all the awesome chase scenes are so awesome because they are in fact done at 100MPH down 1 lane roads..the drivers of the cars are sitting in a RHD drive position, and many were former or current F1 drivers

In turn, if you like European cars, a good storyline, lots of shooting with cool weapons, and argueably some of the best chase scenes out there...Ronin is for you.

Good recommendation Kyle. We (the boys and I) just finished watching it. Good, action packed movie.

Also, listen to the director's comments on the DVD--they towed the stage-cars with Mercedes, too. Cheers, Andrew Seidel.

Too bad the part with the 6.9 spinning around was fake. There wasn't NEARLY enough body roll!

Frankenheimer was a good man. I met him once and we talked about the movie Ronin together and Jean Reno's performance. BTW, John spoke French fluently

Omegabenz, I have TAXI 1 and 2. You can find them on eBay and they will come from Hong Kong in region free mode, so you can view them here no problem. They will have english subtitles too.

I have Taxi 1 French version (from France) and Taxi 2 HK Version.

Err... sorry- no F1 drivers. No F1 driver can drive like this. These were retired World Rally Championship drivers (WRC is actually very similar in terms of driving and driving conditions to what you saw in the movie- minus guns :p ). Got that piece from a write up in European press. Apparently Ronin was WAAAy more popular in Europe than in the US.

BTW- if you have SpeedVision the Rally Deutchland is on this week (I think Sunday at 10 pm).
