http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030730/ap_on_bi_ge/mexico_last_bug_7 By ALONSO SOTO JOYA, Associated Press Writer MEXICO CITY - The last Volkswagen Beetle rolled off the assembly line Wednesday, 70 years after Adolf Hitler's government introduced Germans to a two-door passenger car that became an icon around the globe. Workers painstakingly crafted the final car: a baby blue version marked No. 21,529,464 that will go to a museum in Wolfsburg, Germany, home of VW headquarters. |
That really stinks! Especially since I actually met Herbie in person!! Yes, it was at the Laurel MD drive-in theater in the mid-seventies. :D He was parked at the ticket window where my mom bought tickets to see his movie.
We watched it while sitting on the rear deck of our convertable Corvair. What a car!! |
Great! Now parts prices will skyrocket for my old Bug! :(
