Arnold is cool. Alon and I went out for dinner with him 1/2 a dozen times. We also attended the premiere of T3 and were sitting in the 2nd row, right behind Arnold

I'm glad I don't live in California anymore. Not like we didn't have a former wrestler govern the great state of Minnesota for a few years. I'd vote Larry if he made it legal for nudie bars to serve hard alcohol. Hasta la vista... baby!

Here's my take on our next Governor ... He came to the States in the late 70's, and not speaking english well (if at all), applied himself to become one of Bodybuildings greatest athletes. Developed his career in Hollywood and became a household name world-wide ... well maybe. This blows me away ... he marries into THE political family of the U.S., and he being Republican, must have sent shivers down the Kennedy's backs. He has shown he is also an individual who is goal oriented, leads people and is personable. Add the best part ... like Riordon, he has MONEY, and won't be influenced by special interests ... LET's CLEAN HOUSE IN SACRAMENTO!!! OH, and this get's my goat (no comments please), Bustemante, the Donkey Lt. Gov, who said many times prior (weeks ago) that he would not run ... now he wants to .... oh PUH LEEEEEEESE. LET'S CLEAN HOUSE IN SACRAMENTO! Hasta la vista, BABY!

I think it is great!
It's great because Arnold came to this country with not much more than a dream and a goal. What a testimont to the power of goal setting. Even if he doesn't win, his joining in the fray shows the rest of the world that you can accomplish almost anything in this country if you have a goal and work hard. |

I have to disagree with you spock that Arnold was a just add water body builder. This guy was not only more hard working than most, but also smarter than other bodybuilders as well. If you have seen pictures of Arnold as he built his body from age 14 to 24 when he was at his peak you can certainly see signs of greatness early on, but also some glaring weaknesses. He lost his first competition in the US to Frank Zane (also one of the greats) and it was a great surprise to him given his size advantage) he sought out advice from some of the most repectable trainers in body building and concentrated not on pumping iron, but on sculpting the perfect body, this took alot of perception and compensating work that today's top bodybuilders just don't put into it. He worked to bring up his weak points. I think the term genetics is thrown around way too much in bodybuilding. Some of the greatest bodybuilders in history were told they didn't have the genetics for it when they started and after they were crowned the greatest those same people told other kids they could never be as great as their heros since it was all genetics. But that is besides the point. You are right however that Arnold never was just your average person, but it wasn't his body that made him that was, it was his indomitable spirit (most likely was born with that) and if you ask me that is what makes a great leader.
