What's a "MCC Smart"?
|
This is the degenerated piece of crab:
http://smart.com/smart/images/cityco...pe_home_de.jpg They call it "City Coupe" Kind regards Eberhard |
Looks like an updated version of the old BMW Isseta:D

Say Eberhard, have you ever driven the truck version of the 2cv? We had on here in St Louis. It was called a Majare. All plastic body. Push pull shift like the 2cv.
Our newspaper delivery guy had one of those apache trucks when I was a kid. I thought it was a Pontiac. It was powered with a Pontiac engine. |

The one you probably have in mind was the Mehari. It is the one right in the middle;

Yes, Eberhard, thats it. The years made me miss spell it. You have a good collection of pictures! And a bumble bee 2cv! I bet there's a story there.
|
The pic of the brochure is from an austrian 2CV club.
And the bumble bee: I got the car in 1991, restored it, crashed it, restored it again and know, after 140tkm it is still in the fleet. Pretty handy for carrying an engine lift ;) The color pattern was a suggestion of my little sister (which actually learned driving on this car) Kind regards Eberhard |

The fact is, the Range Rover has slower acceleration, much less axle articulation, and even has worse skidpad grip than the aforementioned Jeep. Or a Disco, for that matter!
The Disco is a "real SUV", with solid axles and plenty of ground clearance and flex. At least in this iteration. I have no beef with your Disco; I'm very impressed that the 40K Disco has better handling on-road and equivalent acceleration, and will also utterly destroy the "superior" Range Rover offroad. Of course, so will any V-8 4wd Jeep Grand Cherokee, or recent Toyota 4Runner V-6 or V-8, and half a dozen others. -Sam |
Worst car I ever owned was a 1988 LeBaron Convertible.
3 tops, 2 electronic dashes, blown infinity speaker, paint wore off the trunk lid, dead battery, steering lock locked permanently. All this, before it reached 32k miles. The computer on it was a joke...it reacted sooo slow, that by the time it was telling you the truth about your actual mileage, you weren't stomping on the gas pedal anymore. My 300D is faster than that thing was. Its going to be a long time (if ever) before I buy any kind of Chrysler product again...even if some parts are MB...there was just too much crap in that LeBaron for me to believe that it is going to go away anytime soon. Once bitten, twice shy. Most trouble free car: Surprisingly was a 93 Escort. I had 97k trouble free miles on it before I traded it in on a... 94 Pathfinder, which was more dissappointment than joy. It rode ok, everything functioned ok, but for a little 3 liter, I expected more than 16-17mpg. Also, the pass side exhaust manifold cracked, and apparently it was common, but they weren't going to fix it. The clutch on the A/C also broke, and it took me months to get just the clutch, and not the whole compressor/clutch package. Honorable mention for ride, goes to the 73 Cadilac Eldorado. FWD, 8.2 liters of guts, and a magic carpet ride. Too bad it got 8mpg on the highway, and 6 in the city. In comparison, the 80 Jeep CJ that we had, had almost half the displacement (4.2) yet still only managed to get 11 hwy. But it sure was a sturdy vehicle (it was ordered with HD everything). -Larry |

I used to own 1990 Integra 4dr auto. My neighbor (MAN was she cute..) had 1990 2dr manual. We switched cars for an afternoon. Then we drag raced them. NO DIFFERENCE! This was the first time I began doubting the superiority of manual over auto. BTW- I LOVED the car. Of course, it was shipped hear from Japan ("J" VIN ), so maybe that's the diff. I sold to to a friend of mine in 1994 with about 40K mi for $8400. He sold it in 2000 with 198,000 mi for... $6500. he spent a total of $230 in repairs.
Excuse me, I've got to go to replace another $300 in parts in my MB 190 D bringing total in repairs (mostly in parts) to about $3400- since July 2000. |
