Nah, it's the Canadians trying to help French achieve superpower status. Alternatively, it's the US trying to get French-Canadians. Ultimately, it's great for primetime. :p

Lightning strike in Niagara?.... c'mon Cretien, have some shame....don't pretend you know what you're talking about. I heard that seven nuclear reactors shut down yesterday. What bothers me is why would they shut down power generators at a time when they are most needed?? Methinks our government intelligence got word of something going down and shut down the reactors for safe measure.

I'm writing this under generator power.

we just got our power back here after about 26 hours. On the up side my wife and I played Monopoly since there was no TV. On the down side, I beat her.

a few years back, during the y2k computer checking frenzy, someone in the industry said that there was really no way to check the computer components in the power grid, because that meant you had to take them offline, which you couldn't. i'm wondering if this is just the tip of the iceberg...

I got our power back after 37 hours. As of yet, there's still no plausible explanation as to how this happened, which means there's no assurance this crippling scenario won't happen randomly again.

One interesting note is that rather than having the madness and mayhem that usually occurs during these events, Detroit was surprisingly well-behaved during this crisis.
