A good heads up, Ryan.
I've always made it a rule never to buy anything from people peddling stuff out of their trunk(or van, or whatever).

Let me guess, it goes something like this . .
"The warehouse gave us too many units and the boss said to just blow them out . . ." "These are overstocks that aren't on our shipping invoice, so we're just making a few bucks . . " "The store that ordered them went out of business, so we're stuck with them . . ." It's a nationwide pitch, even here in Hawaii. The "sellers" generally look for folks with bigger cars or vans so they can close the deal right there. Typical hangouts are big box stores like Costco, Sams, etc. where they know people are looking for deals and have big vehicles. They only take cash and are more than willing to follow you to an ATM. |

They usually will show you "receipts" from local restaurants and bars that bought the same speakers for big bucks.
Lift any one of those speakers and you'll know they're junk. They'll weigh 10 pounds at best.

Numero uno scam because of the low risk to the scammers. They drive around and pick their walking target.

We were chased down while driving the Ferrari a couple weeks ago by a couple guys in a van with obvious fleet numbers on it. I asked him who's speakers they were and he said "mine". I told him we didn't have room and moved on. He pressed the issue then I pressed the accelerator....problem solved.

Apparently a legit audio store in Toronto was selling merchandise out of a van and the sales people were making it seem like it was not so legit. They found they got more customers that way.
