Okay, this is a HIDEOUS question but, Do you believe...

Do you believe that your car actually drives better after its been washed?

Yea yea yea, I know there's no logical explanation for it.. but I swear my car, Peyton, drives much much better when it has been washed. It's more peppy, it shifts smoother. It's almost like it dances on the road.

Now maybe I need to have my head examined, but I don't think I've been the first to ADMIT to believe this. I kinda feel like my car posess's some sort of human elements- like a spirit. It can be grumpy and happy and what not.

What do YOU think?! .......... and be honest!!!

Oh god yes!

Oskar is definitely a happier camper after I clean or wash him or whatever. The girl I am datining thinks I am crazy when I pat his dashboard and say "Oskar has served me well. You treat him right, he treats you right." I was him, clean him, keep him good and he burns less oil too. She thinks I am crazy, but Oskar is the greatest car ever. He definitely drives better after being washed.

It isn't widely known, but many car washes actually use crack as an additive to their soap, since it's an excellent solvent and doesn't harm the paint. So it isn't you -- your cars are actually stoned on crack. This buzz can reportedly last for several hours.

Howdy Peyton 300TD,
No you are not the first one to think that something like washing your car makes it perform better. Just look at all the young ricers that put performance stickers on their cars and think they are racers

Probabaly True

Sorry to say, I have thought the same but never had the (****) to write it. IMO it has something to do with humidy/water. With all my diesels I noticed in OR that those cooler, humid/rainy days the turbo was more noticeable/audible. IMO the water on the road maybe lubricates those suspension parts??? Making the ride renew itself. Am I crazy, maybe, but 1 very noticible rainy trait on the SDL is the shifting - the typical SDL Diesel shift all but dissapears.

I washed my car this past Saturday morning and later took it out for a ride in the town. I certainly noticed it driving/riding alot smoother than when it was dirty. Maybe because I scrubbed all the lovebug guts off by hand. Or maybe it's only a W123 ownership kinda thing???

Oh, like, fer sure!(said with a valley girl accent)
Actually, it runs alot better when I'm cruising thru this town south of me where all the rich folks live(like Bill Gates) called Bellevue. The 'ol SD runs smoother, the trannie shifts better, has more power and everything

I honestly, HONESTLY saw a TV show on this phenomena. They were talking about whether or not cars had real live spirits in them. it showed several videos of owners that abused their vehicles and how the vehicles would come alive and attack them or get them back in some way.

like some pickup ran this guy over 4 times with no one at the wheel- the reason being - this guy would spin out incessantly for no reason.

Anyone that does not think cars, or any machine for that matter, doesn't have a soul is nuts! Anyone who restores cars can tell you that some cars want to be restored while others will fight you every step of the way.
Many has been the time when I could coax a limping car home by sweet talking or threatening it.
As far as driving better when clean, of course they do. Nothing makes a car slide through the air like a slick paint job and polished chrome. It's called Motoring With Pride !!!
