I may be looking at a 1971 GT 1750.

How about some nice ATS, Cromodora or Campagnolo wheels? Those whatever-they-are wheels in the picture don't do it for a classic of this vintage.

My dad's 300SEL 3.5 came with Campagnolos. 'til then I thought they only made bicycle wheels. Didn't suit the car at all (I'm a hubcap guy) but it was a unique set-up.
Kinda looked like the wheels on this Pantera http://www.pim.net/gts826.html Sixto 95 S420 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

What w126 said..
Rust! That thing will corrode away like nothing else. And the rust will appear in the weirdest places like in the middle of the roof or the c-pillars. Very strange.. Electrical system: The older Alfa's are notoriously known for have problems with EVERY part of the electrical system. On my '81 GTV6 the power windows, heater fan, instrument lighting, blinker stalk and headlights failed. -All within 2 months from i bought it..! (i bought it in '96 - got rid of it in '97) It's a fun car. But don't count on it as your daily driver.. Freestyler

These are great cars. Keep your eye on the oil pressure guage. If it reads low that can be a problem. There are plugs that sometimes fall out and cause low oil pressure.
Find a local chapter of the Alfa club and consult an Alfa mechanic. Rust, frozen brake calipers, bad customer modifications and injection problems are costly. Otherwise, these are simple cars to own and maintain. A bad mechanic can do a lot of damage. |
