ironic plot thickens, RIAA vs kaaza

kaaza files suit against RIAA for copyright infringement.

kaaza charges that RIAA used kaaza lite (which is unauthorized for use on kaaza network) to access their portal to obtain user info and distribute hacked materials, both of which violate their T&C of use.

the biggest gaff was the use of the "lite" software by a RIAA "bounty hunter" during a congressional hearing in washington, which clearly violated the DMCA enacted by congress. :p

RIAA responds that kaaza is ultimate hypocrite for suing them on copyright charges.

kaaza says RIAA is hypocritial for using infringed SW and violating their T&C to illegaly gather the user info leading to their lawsuits of individuals.

You know, there's a new ZZ Top album that just came out that I would like to own...but the RIAA's acting as they are, so I'm going to vote with my $$ and NOT buy it.

I'm not going to go into the arguement of whether or not file-sharing is illegal or not, but their tactics and general strong-arming everyone just doesn't set well with me. If they want to act like this, there's no way I can stop them, but in the same breath, there's no way they're getting a penny from me at this point...

I agree with that, but in all reality, who gets the vast majority of the $$ from album sales?

Not the artist, unfortunately

Now that the RIAA has given in to online downloading via iTunes and Napster IMO they have every right to sue, prior to that screw em they lose.

If you can't pay .99 for a song you deserve the radio.

Funny if it was the Italians they would have RICO ACT shoved so far up their butts you could read it on their forheads.
I agree with that but now that a person can legally download at a reasonable price I think the RIAA should have enforcment from that point.

But I'm not the law and sometimes the law sucks, look what Directv is doing to people who bought smartcard programmers. I know of a hospital that got slapped with 167 lawsuits because of programmers they bought for storing equipment info. Of course that was dismissed but it shows how bold a lawfirm with a so called cause can be.

It's all about the cha chang.

If I could buy directly from the artists I like I would, so the talent gets the money and not the goons.

My fight is mostly with the RIAA not the artists........except Metallica, refuse to buy there stuff to line their pockets after what they did.
Who's getting what ain't our biz, the fact that you can get THE song YOU want for less than a buck is more than fair.

If you don't want to pay don't listen.

THe RIAA should be outlawd by the government.

It is guilty of repeated RICO act violations.

Like I said, if it was the Italians, the Government would be screaming MAFIA racketeering.
OK
