W140 Whoes.....
I realize that just about every MB has vacuum pumps and plenty of gadgets. How come the w140 is the most troublesome? Im really thinking of one for the future but my dad is telling me not to bother with getting a "lemon is disguise" cause it will be nothing but trouble and lots of $$$.
Im just wondering how come its so bad with the w140? It has alot of gadgets but so does my 126 and its no trouble.

The W140 has two vacuum pumps - one for central locking and lumbar, one for closing assist. I believe it's the closing assist one that has more problems. It's a more complicated pump because it doesn't suck in all the doors all the time, it sucks in whichever door has to be closed as well as the trunk handle and the reverse marker rods up to 1995. Since in its time only the W140 had closing assist (wagons have closing assist only for the hatch which is a much simpler system), only the W140 can have problems with the closing assist pump. 98% sure of that.
