I never really liked the idea of combo drives, especially with individual drives being so cheap. A good DVD/+-RW should run around $150 (I think) and I've heard good things about Sony and Plextor. CD-RW drives are super cheap now at around $40 or $50. If you have spare drive bays, I'd go with two separate drives. I'm about to order a Sony DVD/RW so if you want to wait, I'll let you know how it is.

I am using a Plextor CD-RW drive and it is rated as one of the best by Maximun PC Magazine and others.
