37 Terrorist attacks per day....

.... in Iraq alone. Heard it on the news yesterday.
Sounds like the 'War on Terrorism' is really working. Are we better off now than before 9/11?

And yes, we are better off. Have any more of our skyscrapers been hit by planes and knocked down, killing thousands? I didn't think so.

Is Saddam still torturing and murdering millions of his own people? I didn't think so.

You're welcome.

Dunno, it was a comment by a reporter quoting an official newsbulletin during a White House press conference with a government spokesman.

Here's some other sources though:

What steps is your country/government taking to help? Please, be specific.

I meant 'we' as in ....WORLD (you know, what's outside US-territory like Bali, Saudi Arabia, Surabaya,Bagdad, Chechnia, Israel, etc). Ordinary folks living there aswell, remember.

'Whatever'... right

That is the most thoughtful, well-sorted response I have seen from you, Vronsky.

Assuming that a Whitehouse reporter's comment and Al Jazeera are unimpeachably accurate, ......

Its my understanding that the attacks are taking place within a restricted area called, "the sunni triangle". The area is inhabited by people who greatly benefited from Saddam's thugocracy and some of them are miffed that they are no longer the beneficiaries of his largess. This includes Tikrit, parts of Baghdad, and a couple of other cities between.

The larger areas of the country that are predominantly occupied by the Kurds and the Shia are mostly peaceful and getting-on with rebuilding their country.

Will the coalition plans meet with unimpeded success to the everlasting peaceful gratitude of the entire nation of Iraq? No.

Is Iraq better-off today than a year ago, Ten years ago? Yes.

Do the people of Iraq have a better chance of setting their own destiny democratically now than any time in history? Yes.

The Iraqi people and the people of the coalition, and the NGO's are all paying the price of recalcitrant thugs and Islamist zeolots.

I hope its worth it, and I'm sure you do to.

You guys all have to realize by now that argueing this Iraq thing with Vronsky is a waste of time. May as well talk to the wall. I think he just gets off going to work everyday and telling his friends "Hey! I really pissed off those americans again! LOL!". They all sit around sipping their tea and having a good laugh at how ignorant we are.
Sorry Vronsky. Had to say it. I still think you're probably a good guy that loves his family and all. But all this seems so vain. I still think the real outcome won't be known for some time yet.

Netherlands, too? Heck yeah, we can dominate the tulip trade!

It's really a waste of time arguing about it with anyone whether they are pro or con BUT it is part of the fun of a forum (personal attacks aside).
