9/11: the fifth estate: Conspiracy Theories
Just thought some might find this interesting, if not utterly outrageous...
"In a special season premiere investigation the fifth estate's Bob McKeown finds that even the most outlandish conspiracy theory may have its basis in a legitimate question. In the course of separating fact from fiction, Bob delves into the labyrinthine and surprising ties between the Bushes and the Bin Ladens. What he finds out may startle you as much as any conspiracy theory". http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/conspiracytheories/index.html Ron http://germanstar.net |

Since I'm not Canadian, I don't now anything about Bob McKeown -- is he a Canadian version of Geraldo, or is he actually respected to some degree? I have heard that the show "the fifth estate" is at least somewhat respected. Can any Canadian members fill in the blanks?

The piece debunks the wacko theories and documents the close times between the US oil industry and Saudi Arabia. That doesn't surprise me very much. Others have argued that the war on Iraq is an attempt to get access to another main source of oil in the Middle East so the US can dump Saudi Arabia as its ally because it funds Wahabi movements everywhere.
I lived in Canada in the late 70's and early 80's and seem to recall that the Fifth Estate is on a par with 60 minutes. Perhaps John (BlackMercedes)can comment on Bob McKeown.

It's common knowledge that the worlds oil reserves won't last forever. Some say lass than 50 years. I really would make sense to secure acces to the richest oil fields -at all costs! -In theory, that is.. Freestyler

I actually watched the show last night. Bob's a good journalist and the show is usually well done and unbiased. Not like the "other" Canadian news show W5.
The piece was to show all the crackpots that are wandering around trying to show: 1. It happened, but was actually done by the US government to incite war. 2. It happened, the government did not participate, but knew it was coming and let it so that it would incite war. 3. It didn't happen the way we thought, and the US government actually used bombs. It was presented in a manner that raised serious doubt about all the scenarios, but gave them enough rope to hang themselves. Because they took them seriously, they were able to gain access to the people that could give them good info about the various theories. But, in the end, folks like "Mike" the supposed CIA agent could not be found and the trail grows cold. The theories are are bunk, and that is clear. However, the best theories have some basis in fact. And that is where things get interesting. As an example, the link between the Bush's and OBL. I think you could use six -degrees-of-separation and make the link from OBL to ANYONE in the oil biz. It did raise some interesting questions, and leaves the viewer curious. The one question that was raised concerned the fact that the US has taken no action against Saudia Arabia despite the fact that SA is aknown supporter of terrorists that target the US, and provided a great deal of support for the 9-11 bad guys specifically. Makes you wonder what the heck is going on in the background. However, once again, the info is shown to be sketchy in places.

Surprised me that he got an Oscar: I understand he's VERY disliked in the US. And wasn't Bush' family tied to the Nazis recently aswell?

There's nothing conspiratorial about the connection between Bush's family and Naziism. Some of the The British royal family also looked favorably on Naziism. So did Lindbergh. I read about it recently in a respectable publication of some kind.

I've heard that the Bush family has ties to extraterrestrials. And Bush started the war in Iraq because the ETs were in need of Iraqi sand for their vehicles. They somehow use the sand to fuel their vehicles. Saudi sand works, too, but they prefer Iraqi sand. The ETs were so grateful to Bush that they gave the U.S. economy a shot in the arm. They stocked up on all sorts of things, including new Oldsmobiles, and now their inventories are bursting at the seams. Anyone else caught wind of all of this?

I take it back. It must be a consipiracy theory. Here's a piece on Bush's family ties to the Nazis from the Dallas Libertarians.

Hey, I was just referencing a fact. It was your side that came up with the conspiracy theory.

BTW, thanks for the insightful synopsis on the broadcast, John. Too bad I can't seem to get quality Canadian television programming here, even with 200+ cable channels. I'm sure I would have enjoyed the broadcast. Ron http://germanstar.net |

Many Canadians have callled for the end of the CBC thanks to the cost to the taxpayers. It would be a real shame. |
