This world is way too small. BOY did I screw myself!
Long story short:
I've gone on three dates with this one gal and we're getting along great. We both like each other and I see it moving forward. Soooo, we're at a function last Friday night. It's at a public place and there's about 500 people in attendance. Just as we sit down and get comfortable, I look up and notice a woman I took out to lunch about a month ago. No problem, but the thing is is that I never called her again. (What are the freakin' chances of us bumping into each other again??) We had a nice lunch, but there was no "love connection". Sure, I should have called... I guess... but I figured I'd never see her again. After the event, there was a reception which we all attended. After a few minutes, I bumped into several girls that I know from church who I've known for about a year or so. We all stood in a circle, my date included, and talked. Then the woman that I had lunch with and never called walked by. Of course I had to say hi. She talked with all of us, including my date, for a while. The whole time I was waiting for her to turn to me and ask, "So, Stefano, why didn't you ever call me after that nice lunch a few weeks ago?" What's worse, it turns out that she also knows all these other girls that I know. Later, after my date excused herself for a few minutes, I noticed her talking to all our mutual aquantances. I'll never know if she said anything like, "He took me to lunch and never called me again!" or not. Funny thing too: the girl I'm beginning to see bumped into one of them again yesterday and was asked how we met. She gave a generic answer because she didn't know if I had an issue with people knowing we met on the internet. Can you say "walking on pins and needles?" I hope I'm just blowing this all out of proportion!

I sure hope it's not fatal!
Murphy's law: I've always made sure to make contact of some kind after a date, at least to let them know how much I enjoyed their company even if it's not going anywhere romantically. This is the only one that I didn't call afterward. I didn't mention the other freaky coincidence: it turns out that we used to work for the same small organization ten years ago. I did remember her; she didn't remember me. We worked in different capacities so we didn't run into each other much. She was also fresh out of college then and "too young" for me. But she showed a lot of class when we bumped into each other. I think everything's okay, but I'll probably never know unless I talk to her....

This IS a small world we live in. I can say this has happened to me also. Maybe not as specifically about me calling but I absolutely hate bumping into women that i went out with when I'm with my now wife. And yes, I'd be on pins and needles, like you, that they not bring anything up....

A few years back my family went to a Chicago Bulls game. Sitting directly behind us was the woman that almost caused my father to break off the engagment to my mother. My father exchanged pleasantries, while my mother sat with her arms crossed. Who'd have thought someone could hold a grudge for 27 years...

I ran into a woman, figurativley speaking of course, I dated over 20 years ago. We had a very nice conversation and caught up on what had happened over the years. She is doing Mcintosh software help in the area. A buddy of mine is doing Mac hardware repair, so I had him call her so they could work together.
Other than that, I really don't have to worry about meeting old girlfriends since I never had that many.

Right after I got married, I re-connected with some old friends. Ended up having dinner parties with them, one of which was an old flame of mine. My wife was cool about it(on the outside anyway ), but we broke the whole thing off after awhile. I noticed I did still have some lingering feelings for this gal, and decided it wasn't healthy for my marriage. Looking back 24 years, that was a good decision

Stefano, I think you are in better shape than you think. Most women are jelaous, but also posessive and they like conquests just like we do. So, the fact that there are women around you went out with may make her a little bit jelaous but also a little bit posessive. the fact that you chose her over the other ones you dated will give her a feeling of accomplishment. I would be rather matter-of-factly about it. if she asks you tell her the truth and end with a subtle compliment, so she knows you think of her more highly than about the others. You'll see.
BTW, my wife and I met on the net 4 years ago. Married within 12 month and 2 days and now have a 3-year old I just put to sleep.

One of the best moments of my married life was my 25th high school reunion. A girl I was very sweet on 26 years previous was there with her family. She was stunning! Beautiful! Sweet! Great husband, nice kids!
My wife was very impressed that I could go out with somebody as classy as my ol' gal. I think that wifey took that as a sort of reflected compliment to herself. Though she need never worry, after 28 years, I'm still as infatuated with her as when we were just getting acquainted. You should be so lucky. Botnst |

Met, married, and with a little one to tuck in every night withing four years? You GO BOY! I know a few people who met their spouses on the net. That's why I decided to go ahead and give it a try. It's been a very nice experience so far. I'm going on about two months now and it looks pretty sure that this one woman and I will be dating regularly soon. We began coresponding then met a couple weeks ago. We've gone out five times since and it's great. She's quite a woman.... works full time while also seeking an MBA from GWU, is very intelligent, a good person, and beautiful too!
