Cool What's your longest non-stop road trip ever?

How 'bout one rule: we'll limit it to two or less drivers in the car and stops of approx. one hour or less along the way (gotta stop to eat, etc).

My sister and I drove from Silver Spring MD (a little north of Washington, DC) non-stop to Austin TX. If I remember correctly, the trip took us 26 hours. Our vehicle of choice was her screaming red mid-eighties Nissan 200-SX with that great V-6 engine under the hood.

We got a long splendidly, at least until Arkansas or so. I think she screamed something about killing my first born child after I got wrong directions from a "jokester" at a truck stop which sent us twenty miles SOUTH of the city. Our aunt and uncle live NORTH of the city on Lake Travis.

SO..... what's your longest NON-STOP road trip??

I don't think this counts, because I wound up sleeping for about 5 hours in the back area of my old Scout, but that and a 1 hour turnaround were the only stops (other than fuel) that I made in an 18 hour run to L.A. and back at 55mph (towing a vehicle there and towing another vehicle back).

I think I have driven 10 hours in one shot (only stopping for fuel/food/nature calls), but for any longer of a period, I try to get some sleep.

I forgot my brother's trip: Woodbridge VA (15 miles south of DC) to Dallas TX non-stop. He was driving a late seventies SUV (I forget the make) filled with all his belongings while pulling his Mazda Miata. He only stopped a couple times to rest his eyes at reststops, drank diet-Coke and ate Italian cake (Panetonni) the whole way!

I forget how long we were on the road...but... while driving across the country delivering some custom vans: I slowed down to let a "car" merge onto the highway. A long while later my friend radioed over the CB to speed up to catch up to him. I had been waiting for the train that was moving parallel to the highway to merge!!! Man was I tired.

When I bought the 300D

From Fort Pierce, FL to Northern NJ. 21 hours with a 1 hour nap.

I also drove 13 hours from Grundy VA to NJ when I was about 18-19 years without stopping or getting out of my dad's pick-up.

He had 2 x 20 gallon saddle tanks and I wanted to see if I could make the drive without ANY stops. With a few creative in cab potty stops, I made it.

From Calgary, Alberta to Whitehorse, Yukon. We left at 4:00am and arrived at 3:00am the next morning. The total distance is 2450 kms or about 1550 miles. It was 1983 and we were in a 1981 Honda Accord.

When I used to drive trucks for a living.......

My longest non-stop jaunt was from approximately 60 miles south of Dallas, to Grand Rapids Michigan. I don't recall the miles travelled anymore, but it took me about 24 hours to pull the drive, all on interstate, stopping only for fuel, food, and towards the end of that run, whatever ultra high caffeine beverages I could wrap my hands around. The vehicle driven was a 1994 Volvo/GMC truck with a 14.6L 350hp Caterpillar engine and a 10 speed manual tranny, running right at 80,000 pounds. Ahhh, the good ole' days when I was young enough to get away with it, and still too dumb to realize the consequences of that kind of driving.

Now I'm thrilled when I pull distances like my last trip. Denver, CO. to Baker City, OR. in one day.
