Help me: Anxiety

For some reason, the last few days, I've felt much anxiety. It's very strange, because there's not really anything i'm anxious about. I'm not work stressed, don't have girl troubles, the only thing is I recently got mild tinnitus which scared me a lot at first, but now I don't really notice it (it's still there).

I'm fairly sure it was brought on by that, but I don't worry about it, so why the constant anxiety?

I'm usually a very (too?) relaxed person, and I don't feel inadequate about myself or anything like that.

Any thoughts/opinions?

P.S. I want to hear good things, not bad!

Guessing...

Too much caffine? Sugar? How are you sleeping. Could also be a specific allergy to something. Good luck.

You're not alone. About a month ago out of nowhere I too began feeling some anxiety. It came on gradually. Then it hit Bigtime!!!!!!! I was having trouble sleeping and felt mildly depressed also. Again, for no reason whatsoever!!! I didn't think I was stressed either. Must be something in the water. I went to the Doc and he prescribed Attivan for a week. Helped out big time and I feel fine now. It was weird. Don't know why it came on??? Just remember to keep your cool. I know exactly how you feel...

I happens to me also, from time to time. It usually boils down to something that in my life that I've gotten lazy about keeping on top of and so I feel a loss of control over-- like some bills to be paid, someone I need to talk to about something important and haven't gotten up the nerve, or something simple like sending a thank you note that I've procrastinated in doing.

Do you have any important loose ends that need to be addressed?

Certain allergy medicines made me anxious. I also cut out processed sugar out of my diet (for many different reasons). Aspartame (in diet soda) also gave me a long list off odd symptoms all including anxiety and mood swings. I could not figure out what was wrong until I remembered a doctor years back warning me not to consume anything with aspartame. Then I went to reading online and found people with symptoms just like mine. I quit drinking the sodas and all the symptoms went away within a week.

Since then, I have been careful about what goes in my body.

Meditating (any way you are comfortable) and deep breathing exercises help settle and center you with practice.

Some light walking would be great for you too.

I would look at what you are putting in your body as far as processed foods and chemicals are concerned. Many people have food allergies too. You could keep a log of the foods you eat and how you feel physically and emotionally after you eat them. Itís time consuming but it could trace down the problem. I felt like a new man after I cut out sugar, aspartame, processed foods and began eating more fruits and veggies.

Also how much water do you drink a day? I felt a lot better after I slowly increased my water to 8-10 glasses a day.

Good luck.

You are not alone in this. I agree with the exercise plan and cutting back on caffine. I also take Kava Kava root which can be found in natural food stores. It may take a few months for the anxiety to subside. When I feel it coming on I start taking the Kava.

If you are nearing the age of 40,,,, you'll get over it. Hit me big time in my late 30's.

I'm only 21 so it's all a bit weird..

Thanks for all your advice - Rasputin, I've read what you say a few times, and try to understand it.

I can ignore it if I want.. and sometimes I do, but in the mornings when I'm better off I try to figure out what it is and think it through... but it sometimes leaves me feeling 'nervous' all day and hangs in my mind. What is 'it'? I think:

'It' started when I got tinnitus (ringing ear) maybe 4 weeks ago, which doesn't bother me any more, but at first it really scared me and I worried a lot.. you know: 'what happens if it never stops, if I can never sleep properly ever again' etc etc

Since then I haven't quite been able to shake that nervous or sometimes panicky feeling, and it comes and goes. It also really sucks.

There's also someone I've kind of fancied for maybe.. 3/4 months, and now see them every 3 or 4 days since last month.. but I try to ignore them because I can't be bothered with the whole thing.. and there are aspects of the person I try to convince myself I don't like.. but I may be mistaken here .

I don't worry about that though, and think it's irrelevant (and I'm not just saying that). I face up to it myself, but haven't faced up to her. I've done it to people before and I think it's helpful, and I guess I will eventually, but it's not a big deal right now.

any further input?

thanks!

Russ
