God yes!!!How do I get rid of this noise. Both of my W126s make this noise and it's driving my crazy. I love both of these cars but I have got to fix this noise.

We have 2 126s which had that creak/squeak.

Stick velcro onto the bottom of the doors (which closes against the side-step), and also by the side of the door just where it meets the door-lock. That ought to solve the noise.

Under powered

If you are still just in the "thinking" stage of buying, here is something to consider. The car is very big and very heavy and the opinion by many MB owners is that the six-cylinder W126s, V126s are under powered. A V-8 makes these cars more fun to drive and much faster. The 4.2 liter V-8 in mine is perfect for the size and weight. My opinion (and many others) as V126,W126 owner. No flack please!

Well Mr. Tabasco...

I thought about the power problem and I decided to buy the car anyway. It's in quite good shape and I'll put up with the low power. I have some repairs to do on her and I'll start doing them this weekend. I figure my wife will wnat the car sooner or later and I'll find a primo 420SEL for me.

It'll probably still outrun my SD.

Cool Who cares? Not me...

If top speed is all you care about, I'll race you in an old Chevy Nova and beat you miserably! My 420 SEL is about "style" and "class". NOT drag racing. I think you've seen The Fast and Furious movies too many times.

Tobasco-

Have you ever driven a 6 cylinder 126 car? I find mine plenty powerful (and I drive my 400E every other day) for almost any situation. No, its not going to snap your head back, but who cares.

I guess I am just sick of people posting about how slow the 300se is. Most of these people have never driven the model, and are just regurgitating what they have read here.

Anways, I like my SE. I really like my SE actually. I can almost stand in the engine bay, the engine is smooth as greased ice, and it gets reasonable fuel economy (>20).

The trick to this model is keeping the rpm up. That means over 3k.

Mike
