Opinions on "bundt rims"

My parts car I got came with the original bundt rims for the early 126's and they had new winter tires. I cant put them on the 15 hole because they are 15inch and the others are 14.

What are some opinions on the bundt wheels? When I put them on I dont think I ever had a better ride....so smooth.

I think they look great!

And from years of personal experience, they ARE a pain in the ass to clean!

For that matter, I also have the 15 hole rims and they are just as much a pain to keep clean.

totally cool, retro Benz look! I'd keep 'em. Get that German wheel cleaner spray to keep them clean.

Does it work better than McGuire's wheel cleaner?

Those style rims were one thing I never liked about MB's of the 80's. Just too industrial looking to me. I didn't like them back then, and still don't now. But everybody has different tastes.

I, too didn't like the appearance on a w126. However, it looks great on w108 models.

Just my opinion, but I've always thought they were about the ugliest rims I'd ever seen. I always preferred the steel rim/painted hub cap look on the 108s, 114s, 115s.

And I'll agree to that. Our '85 380SE had the Bundt rims... fond memories of age 7 and scrubbing brake dust off of those things, just to be with the Mercedes.

I dont know why MB stuck with these bundt rims for many years

Our S500 (W220) has the multispoke wheels (the car is 150 miles away.. I can't count the spokes from here ) and those are godawful to clean. If I ever get my 240D, I plan on getting a set of steel wheels and chrome/painted hubcaps, unless it already is equipped with them. I think the bundt rims were the worst we ever had; but our 380SE wasn't that bad on brake dust compared to the 3 W140s we had... our 92 300SE was the worst for some reason... suprising considering it was SWB and the other 2 W140s we had ('94 S420, '97 S420) were LWB.
