If your sound quality wasn't good it is probably because you are listening through the FM modulated system. Get a XM ready receiver and the sound is as good as CD. XM is 10,000% better than FM radio.....no contest!

Cool Still radio...

You're still a slave to their,"expert" programming. Stereo seperation and reception spotty depending on location (wires overhead, tunnels, electric storms, etc... Good luck!

I drive around 50,000 miles per year. Not to long ago, I took a 2,000 mile road trip and the XM radio did not cut out even one time. I don't know where you are getting spotty reception? Obviousily, if you go in a parking garage or through a long tunnel, the radio loses its reception since the signal will not pass through solid objects. However, when you are driving down an interstate or a country road and pass under an overpass the XM radio signal stays strong.

Maybe your antenna is a POS? I have heard the Terk antennas are not the best. I use a Pioneer XM antenna and the signal is amazing.

I rarely lose reception. When I do, it's only brief and soon comes back on. I've also never noticed anything less than great stereo reception. For a little while after gettign XM, I kept thinking my car was making strange noises. Turned out to be high-end notes bouncing around the cabin!

I also got an aftermarket wire from La Jolla Audio which gives me CD quality sound with my OEM headunit! So there's no need to buy an aftermarket unit if you don't want to.

Dephi has an available "home kit" that will plug into a Hi Fi. You may need to run a cable for the satellite antenna.

I have XM in my car and also the boom box for listening at home. I love it, never use CDs in the car anymore. I like the talk channels and FRED for the alternative punky style music, much of it from the UK. UPOP (29) is als a happening station.

My wife wants it in her ML now!
