The folks that make the beer with the caps that require openers are not as smart as the folks that bottle it in twist opening bottles. That is my opinion anyway:D .

do you think its A quailty issue or something I think every import out there requiers an opener while our domestics are twist off I go back and forth between brands import domestic light regular whatever I feel up for. maybe when your having A few tonight and your reading this you will ask yourself YEAH WHY DO THEY DO THAT!

Quality beer deserves as much respect as good wine and fine scotch. The ritual of uncaping a real bottle and pouring cool beer into a proper glass for relaxing enjoyment may be foreign to the TV ads featuring fraternity piss-ups, vomiting and jutting bosoms BUT the kids have to grow up eventually.

We are really lucky in my city, having access to some very good micro-breweries and I would be ashamed to rush to the bottom of such fine products. Actually, I play a bit of a game with myself by rewarding a good training run with an equally good beer afterwards.

Down with aluminum cans and twist-off caps :p

I would speculate that beers bottled overseas would not have the twist top feature so they will survive shipment.

I had a twist-off bottle twist itself off in the trunk, beer everywhere. It's a dumb gimmick. Real men use their teeth.

Truly good beer never has a twist-off cap.

The difference is between "returnable" bottles vs throw-aways, mostly. The cap on the twistys is lighter material, too, and doesn't seal as well. Not a problem on American "light" beer, since it has essentially no flavor to lose, but all imported beers have standard crown caps. I don't know if it is a legal requirement or not, but long distance shipping can cause twistys to leak.

There are some domestic beers that still have standard crown caps, mostly microbrewery beers.

Eliminate the non-return bottles, and the twisty would probably dissapear, too -- too many bottles would fail to seal the second and third (or more) time.
