MB Service Books

What actually is repaired or replaced on a MB if books are stamped up to date ? does each car have different replacements for shocks, exhaust, etc?? or is it just inspected and replaced as needed? Is there a schedule maintence on line (web) I can look at??

stamped would indicate that the scheduled services were completed in a timely manner.

CAUTION: more than a few set of "books" have been fabricated to sell cars with doubious histories.

a "friendly" dealer can confirm on the computer if the books match the service history of the VIN for any services performed at an MB dealer, and is ALWAYS a good idea.

books and records that can not be confirmed are essentially worthless.

talking to the previous owner can also produce a wealth of info, especially when the PO is not the current seller.

carfax can help in determining that the mileage jives with the info in the service history.

VERY TRUE!!!

I bid on a MB at Ebay the other day and the seller said that a local Dealer in Atlanta had done the 150K maintenance stamped in the book, so I called them with the VIN and they have never seen that car..

GA,

i have an owners manual for an 82 turbo-D if you need the schedule.

not sure if i can supply it before leaving town.

if you cant find the info online, i can forward after the holidays.

it may be missing the recommended interval for plugs!

Do what I do, make sure you have the reciepts to back up the books and put each one in a plastic sleeve.

MB books

Thanks anyway, I just was wondering if items were replaced, or just inspected and replaced as necessary for the maintenance schedule....
