dont eat commercial beef!

You should either quit meat or go hunting. The choice is yours.

Its easy for an ******* like me to say that cause I have freezer full of caribou and salmon.

Just remember if it does'nt kill you..........it will make you stronger.

hehehe

Where's the beef?

Look, Mad Cow probably has been circulating in our food for a long time and we just did not know it.

Wild meat probably has higher chance to have other virus we not yet aware of.

There is nothing safe anymore. Mercury and PCP in fish, toxin and chemicals in veggies.

Moral of the story: life is an all you can eat salad bar, just go for it.

You gonna die once, but you can worry millions of times.

CWD has been around forever, cook your food, live long and prosper. In the meantime go wackin and stackin, it's more fun than getting your doors dinged at the grocery store.

The Mad Cow scare has caused the price of beef to plummet right now. Was just at the grocer and the ground beef was under $1 per pound. Haven't seen it that low in years.

'scuse me...., but COOKING ain't gonna touch mad cow OR CWD. It's caused by a dysfunctional prion that would take ~2,200 degrees F to kill it (that pretty much rules out rare, med, well done and goes WAY past organic volatilization.)

Might as well eat it rare if you don't have it checked for CWD. ANY kind of cooking the typical person can do at home ain't gonna kill it. BTW, CO DOW says soaking items that have touched blood products of a CWD animal "may" be disinfected by soaking for 1 hour in full strength bleach, but they're not sure. We only hunt in non-wasting areas and still have the heads tested and take sterile precautions, but one drop of blood, even dried, can transmit.

Also, CJD (mad cow) isn't phased by the typical autoclave, that's why OR's that have a CJD patient have to destroy their instruments. No way to effectively sterilize them.

The way in which acquired CJD is most commonly spread is through the use of contaminated surgical instruments. All reusable surgical instruments go through a routine decontamination, which involves cleaning with a disinfectant and sterilization by heating in an autoclave. The prions that cause CJD can survive up to 3 years of environmental exposure and are unusually resistant to such conventional decontamination methods. When a brain biopsy is performed on a patient who is suspected to have CJD, the instruments are quarantined and categorized by the differing tissues with which they came into contact.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has set policies and procedures for the disinfection of such medical and surgical materials. All reusable surgical instruments that have come into contact with “high-” or “medium-risk” tissues should be immersed in a pan containing 1N sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or sodium hypochlorite for a minimum of one hour. After soaking in this solution, the instruments should be rinsed thoroughly and placed in a gravity displacement autoclave at 121°C for 1 hour. Once this process has been completed, the normal routine for sterilization of the instruments should proceed. Instruments that only came into contact with “low-risk” tissues may simply be cleaned using conventional procedures.

All disposable supplies, instruments, and surgical attire used during the procedure should be collected and placed in a biohazard bag. These items should be labeled “Incineration Only” and segregated from other biohazardous materials.

I have no clue how you arrived at this, but here is some factual stuff that might be of interest.

Basiclly instead of a regular flash unwrapped cycle @ 270degrees 30 PSI for 3-4 minutes increase the time to 18 minutes.

Go to your local butcher

We usually get all of our meats from a local butcher (grain fed meat) and not from the supermarket.. The meat always tastes better..
