There are three ways that high end encoded-key vehicles are stolen:

1. Stealing them from the dealer through a test drive or after-hours pilfering.

2. Stealing them from your home by breaking into your house and taking the keys.

3. Towing them away.

Some GM, Ford and Chryco cars have simple key systems that have non-rolling code systems that can be broken with some inexpensive equipment.

The most popular way to steal a Mercedes currently is number 2. Going on vacation? Lock the keys to your MB away...

I think I'd be tempted to just leave the keys in the car rather than having my house ransacked just to find the car keys. Might stumble onto something more irreplaceable than a CAR while searching for the keys. Let 'em take it! Hope it never gets recovered and get a new one. Unless it's an older MB you're really attached to, but generally I think they are after newer iron, not old stuff, unless you have like an old Gullwing or something really cool......

William; You totally lost me here. Many WHAT were sold? Huh?

In regards to carjacking, it'll be interesting to hear stories about any of the "Keyless Go" cars being carjacked. Car will only run for a certain amount of time with the Keyless Go card or key outside of the car. Car will wait to shut off until the carjacker comes to a stop, then the engine shuts off and won't restart until it senses the card or keyless go key.

Obviously forgot to order the accessory high speed tree saw and car crusher when they got the 1000 gal tow-behind gas tank option.
