Shenanigans at MBWorld

Have any fellow members here seen some of the junk happening over at mbworld.org? Recently they have gone on 'banning spree', banning the people who operate two other major M-B sites.

They refuse to give specific reasons and have made contradictory statements. The banning are blamed on "violation of the terms of use", however t.o.u. are not viewable (404 server error).

Just wondering if anyone else here is following this and what peoples' opinions are... (since MBWorld closed and deleted the threads pertaining to the bannings)

We still have flare ups from time to time and some interesting characters. We had one guy that was threatening people and including our President. Another guy was starting threads with profanity in them. We all thought this was overboard and it was not tolerated. Basically this site totally believes in free speech but rediculous stuff like threats or overuse of profanity or really insulting and flaming members or disrespecting the mods gets you banned.
Suck-up.

This was centered around their advertising policy and individual members' attempts to start group buys.

The one incident that pushed alot of people over the edge was just yesterday (or the day before?) when the owner of a C-Class forum was banned after showing pictures of his new carbon fiber interior. Apparently he mentioned who the manufacturer was (it was a one-off deal, not a for sale item) or someone inquired about a group buy, I'm not sure. Anyway it resulted in his banning, and even long-time respected members were outraged. Its understandable that they (MBWorld/Evosport) do not people advertising without paying (I'm sure Donnie/Bill feel the same way also) but they failed to outline a clear policy concerning what was acceptable and what was not, and then began banning people without apparent reason or explanation. IMO it was pretty lame...

BTW the moderating/administrating here is excellent... very balanced and non-arbitrary. The rules are clearly stated for everyone to understand...

Sorry Spock. My comment was meant as a light-hearted tease but on re-reading, its kinda snide. Wasn't intended that way.

BTW, I agree with you.

I know, I know---suck up.

Botnst . . . if we didn't all suck up now and then, then I guess we'd all just blow!

I never saw the appeal of the site, myself. They stole the format for their forum from BenzWorld by creating an almost perfect clone of the site, and seem to have a rather peculiar attitude -- maybe it's just me. When you're not busy here, try BenzWorld. MBCanada is also a nice site.

Yeah I love this site... but there is not so much content for W203 owners. www.csportcoupe.com is a good site for the 203... coupe and sedan. Its more focused on mods and tuning, where as obviously here its more on older Benzes and parts/repair.

The moderators

What I don't understand over at MBworld is the times I see the moderators flaming (I believe is the expression) up other posting over competing name brands. The very typical one is how ( forgive the language) f..ugly the BMW 7 series is and how boring and POS the Lexus 430 is.
I too like Mercedes' the best but I truely see the competing brands as being better in many aspects and I really think many MB fellows are in total denial when badmouthing oher brands.

I do believe that the majority of posters on MBworld are quite young and there is nothing wrong with that. I grew up too with strong opinions.

What I feel is less fortunate is the tone set by the moderators on these flamatory issues.

People are in title to their opinion but especially some of "Accord
Super Moderator"s postings are simply silly and just argumentive at best.

Example, "there is not one incentive in the world for us to buy a boring, over-rated, rebadged Toyota." in thread

http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16437&perpage=10&highlight=lexus%20toyota&pagenumber=9

I as a MB follower will accept that the LS430 is better build in many aspects and the engine technology of BMW is second to none (reliability not so good). But as an overall value I still believe a well kept second hand MB is very hard to beat. At least used to when reliability was a given.

I never bothered answering to these pointless flaming disussions although I like to discuss the different strong and weak sides of the different brands.

I'm not brown-nosing here, but going to other MB forums like mbworld is just like night and day! It even got to the point of frustration that I had to post how much I loved these boards!

Everybody seems so mature, fair in advice and opinion. Some of the topics covered here in the open discussion board are really deep! I am a big picture guy, and I appreciate that greatly.

When I browse on over to the mbworld.org open discussion area(off-topic), it is amazing! The copious amounts of beligerence that seems ever so rampant on that site as a whole is just outlandish for owners of such prestigious automobiles! Was that a run-on sentence?

Benzworld is alright(watch out for my buddy, Chriss...Don't get on his bad side), but its not as nice as mercedesshop. No way.

Is it me or are the other sites full of high school kids? Once I see see the word "Benzo " I leave the site.

The old MB mailing list (mercedes.cx) has a good archive.

Hey, don't accuse all of us! (I'll be out of HS in 3 months... woo-hoo!)

You're right though, alot of the members are 13-18 and only post junk on off-topic to increase their post count. lame...

I HATE THE TERM PIMPIN' GRRRRRGGGHHHH!!!

These morons throw on 20" wheels, add underworld accesories, and flaunt their obvious lackluster intelligence with weird chain things and other metal scraps waving out of a once voluptuously styled Benz W126!

Watch out for the Benzo stuff(as said). WATCH OUT FOR DA' PIMPSTA'S.

I am 20, 21 in March.

I say, they should all go screw...And they frequently do.

I just checked out MBWORLD it does nothing for me sounds like they cater to new cars only which is fine but mercedes has older ones as well. I cant belive they dont have A DIESEL section in their forums thats pretty narrow minded to just turn your head at them. Mercedes shop is where its at A well rounded bunch

I agree. If these kids actually realized what the act of pimping entailed, they would change their tone or at least fine a new term...

I have lurked a MBworld a lot. I actually found this site when someone posted a link to it there. Some guy posted that his 240D wasn't running right and couldn't get an answer from the clowns over there. MBworld seems to be full of people who buy new cars for the badge. There are so many posts like "oh the horror I can't get this headlight option on the 05 E55, I want to order it now! Why do I have to wait 5 months to get it." There is no deep disscussions over there and little technical information. The W126 forum has like 5 posts, mostly fluff. And the "post whoreing" whats up with that? So you made 10,000 useless posts good for you, get a life. I just go over there to read the kill stories forum, fun reading. Sorry for the rant.
Btw, I noticed Dr. AMG over there a lot, I love your sig's some awsome pics of your new W210! Did you notice any power improvement with your Brabus B9 kit?
