Need help getting glue off trunk!

Debadged my 400E, but the glue leftover glue is tough to get off! Is there something I can use which will help get it off?

Mike

PS I am aware this isn't the detailing forum, but everyone hangs out here.

I used Goo Gone. in a bottle like rainx.. given to me by a friend. A mechanic recognized it in the trunk one day and told his customer about it to remove tar.. he said it was the perfect solution. Since I didn't buy it I don't know where it's sold.

I found some stuff called "woops". Wasn't very strong, but I was patient and its gone. I'm happy.

I'll keep my eye out for Goo Gone. Thanks,

Mike

I would think twice about WD40... I used it one time and had a STAIN on the paint that I couldn't get off for a loooooong time. I will never use wd40 on paints.

speaking of glue

speaking of glue, i need to remove the trunk seal in my parts car and transplant it into my daily driver.

it appears to be glued on. are there any tricks to do this without ruining the rubber seal?

Snibble, I agree. I used WD40 on my Jag antenna thinking it was helping the retracting etc. Then I noticed "spots" on my trunk and fender.. caused by the residual spray of said product. After reading the manual for Jags and message boards I found WD40 can affect finishes. Plus it's not a lubricant and wasn't helping my antenna motion. 3-In-One was what Jag recommended. I am now extremely aware of where I aim my WD40.

Tried to remove the glue residue on the glove box outside area. Previous owner taped the glove box closed with duct tape. Tried the Goo Gone but did not work well. I used 3M weather strip adhesive remover. You can buy it at any auto supply store. After I removed the glue I treated the dash with 303 preservative.

JenTay

Removing the old weather strip to put on another car. Forget it. The rubber will tear. To remove it you pull as much off as you can and then buy 2-3 quart cans of 3M weather strip adhesive remover and use a lot of patients. If you try to use a screwdriver or any metal tool you will remove the paint and develop rust in a couple of years. A plastic putty knife can work but it takes a lot of work.
