Trying to decide which wheels to go with on the S420. This is how it looks now except my wheels are all scratched...

I have a set of late W140 wheels that need minor refinishing and new ceter caps. Would otherwise look like this (with the older style side cladding)...

I also have a set of W220 wheels in excellent condition. I'm not big on changing the appearance of the car. I'm not sure this is the right way to go but sunk costs aside it makes the most financial sense for me at this point...

What sayeth y'all? What are your thoughts?
BTW, thanks to eBay for the lovely selection of photos :) Thanks, Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
My personal preference is for the early style 8 hole wheels.
I have just never liked the late model W140 wheels. I don't like the way they look. Never have. Do you have pictures of the W220 wheels? |
The third picture is of a 400SEL with W220 wheels. Must be a good match if you didn't catch it.

Is that the only difference? With the exception of the number of spokes, they appear to have the same design. |
W220 wheels have a smooth outside rim instead of the stepped rim on traditional wheels.

5 spoke AMG's, satin finish.those are all kinda boring. but, the original looks best. However you want the typical 19-yr old response...slam it get some iced out 22's yo, spinners would look sick dawg.

It looks like the design and shape of the spoke is the same, though. If you like the look of the late W140 wheel, then I wouldn't hesitate to use the W220 wheels, provided they have the right offset and width. |
