SCO Unix sues DaimlerChrylser and AutoZone
Taken from:
http://www.nwfusion.com/news/2004/0303scosues.html?net Excerpt: " After months of threats, The SCO Group on Tuesday put teeth into its claim that Linux illegally contains portions of its Unix source code and filed infringement lawsuits against DaimlerChrysler and AutoZone." "SCO is seeking for DaimlerChrysler to certify that it hasn’t violated the requirements of its Unix software agreement by using Unix code in Linux. DaimlerChrysler uses Linux in a cluster of computers to test crash dummies." :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG, aka E36T AMG 1993 500E |

Uhhh, isn't it up to SCO to show that DaimlerChrysler DID violate the requirements of the UNIX software agreement? In fact, shouldn't SCO show that Linux itself has violated UNIX terms of use before going after companies that use Linux? They still haven't even gotten that far, and it looks like they never will.
Pump and Dump, about once a month SCO does some stupid thing just to stay in the news. Then the bigwigs will jump ship just before IBM buries them. |

I gnu something fishy was up with that. It's ironic that a company built upon free software principles is now on the legal warpath. Seems like that's all they're doing right now.
DC isn't the culprit, in fact, they wouldn't have a clue. SCO's real beef is with IBM. SCO is done, they're NEXT to go!

Microsoft is behind it !?!
See the following link. It claims (via a leaked SCO memo) that Microsoft has essentially paid off SCO to take down Linux:

As some pointed out, this entire mess might be a good thing. Let the big guns (IBM, etc) both legitimize Open Source and also set precedent so it doesn't get attacked like this in the future. |
