...yes Virginia, some people do choose to do funny things to their bodies.

Please tell me again, what are the compelling reasons for the State to restrict such peculiar, but harmless adult activities?

BTW: I once saw a guy lift a cinder block from a ring on the tip of his johnson at the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow in Seattle. It would be a bit of a stretch to say I was moved by the performance.

We have a law in Colorado forbidding female genital mutilation. I don't get the connection to genital piercing.
Was it some kind of backroom deal with the right wing? They agreed to allow the retention of female orgasmic pleasure if the left gave up the right to pierce???

"The ban applies only to women, not men."

GREAT! A perfect first topic for Al Franken's new show. :p

This is disgusting, but it's his body, not mine.

I've never understood the current dual trends of tattooing and piercing. Folks who consume their skin with tattoos and piercing are treating their bodies like trash. IMO they have diseased minds. And other than for freak-show appeal it’s not even slightly attractive. The disgusting things folks do in the name of entertainment, or is it individuality? Whatever, it’s just another demonstration of people who lack the intelligence as God gave the average stupid flea.

What’s next, mutilating appendages so someone can look stylish? Oh, that's right, some do that, too. Where is the mr yuk emoticon?

What's the difference between creating a work of art on canvas and creating one on skin?

What is the difference between calling a trash art and calling trash trash?

Kerry I apologize for the back handed comment. The human body is the most evolved work of nature we know of. I would call it nature’s highest art form. Given that so much of what humans do is self-destructive, your point has a basis. Even still no one with more than about a quarter of a functional brain would suggest taking the Mona Lisa and affixing several hundred tattoos and piercing, to enhance it’s "artfulness."

Put it a different way, take a car, any car, and chrome everything. In this process have you enhanced the car or destroyed the intent of the designer?

Ted, I have an interesting Yakuza story in the same er....uh, vein. One of the fishing boats I worked on up in Alaska had 4 Japanese trawl technicians on board. These guys were a hearty breed. One of them was ex-Yakuza--lots of integrated tats, and he even had the missing pinky finger, signifying voluntary resignation.

One night I was working in a machine room just off of the area where the techs had their showers. I was busy rebuilding a hydraulic valve, when I turned around to find that Mr. Yakuza had entered the room draped in a towel. Though he didn't speak any English, he clearly wanted to show me something in the general direction of his towel area. Imagine my concern, but he just dropped the towel and held his johnson up for me to inspect. He was proudly revealing to me that he'd had pearls sliced into half and surgically implanted all along the shaft. Apparently this is a highly sought after enhancement among certain groups in Japanese culture. I must say, it impressed the hell outta me...

Imagine how impressed the ladies must be with his "pearly shaft"... ;)

Ribbed for their pleasure! :p

Oh, man. I hope that it fails to pass. Besides being stupid and ignorant it is also disciminatory on the basesis if sexuality. That's totaly no ok. Myself, I have no tats or piercing but am for others to have that choice if that's what they want. Maybe it's time for another tea party.

Kuan, man that's whack but hey different strokes for different folks. :D

The pearl thing just doesn't sound very comfy but I can see the ladies liking it.

It already passed, on unanimous vote no less... but, the part regarding piercing was an ammendment that some people likely did not read. So, they get to have another shot at it. Georgia is full of this crap.

Some idiot representative not a year ago put in a bill that would make it illegal to not serve southern style 'sweet tea' if tea is served at the establishment.

And, dont forget that during the olympics, major debate swirled as to how to inform foreigners as to the sex acts forbidden by Georgia law. signs in hotels? too many languages... signs with universally understandable symbol people within a circle and a slash through them? too many illegal sex acts. people sold lots of t-shirts with those pictures on them though... amazingly, the guy who brought that issue up was actually intending to show how rediculous the laws were, not to gain support for them. backfire!

Zeitgeist 03-26-2004 05:12 PM

Didn't the Supremes just put the kibosh on laws preventing "sex acts" between consenting adults? This kind of thing really boggles the mind. Shouldn't public service be about doing something worthwhile, rather than just making stuff up? Why does the public put up with this buffoonery?
