Angry DC to add more radar cameras in order to raise tax revenue

This really makes my blood boil!! As if DC didn't already screw us enough.

Here's an excerpt:

" The D.C. government will double the number of photo-radar cameras, increase licensing and parking fees and enforce traffic laws more vigorously as part of a plan to raise non-tax revenue by nearly $47 million next year.

...the fact that the additional cameras were first brought to light in a budget document leads to questions about the city's motives."

Enitre article here:

More spy cameras are on the way [in Washington, DC]

Well, at least they're finally being honest about what its all about - MONEY.

My office building in Arlington just got 300 workers who had their office moved out of DC. More and more businesses are finding DC to be a hostile place to run a business and a hard sell to attract qualified employees.

I believe the cameras tend to serve as a replacement for the "commuter tax" talked about so often.

For my part I avoid the District in business and entertainment, and I'm glad there's a river between DC and Virginia.

For your part, why don't you accept DC into the state of Maryland so they can have some representation for all that taxation?

Edit: Sorry, I forget you moved into Virginia. Notice any lower taxes?

I've been staying out of D.C. as much as I can. I live in Va and I work in Va.

Since Congress has exclusive jurisdiction over D.C., they actually have better representation than we all do. They have 98 more Senators than we do and 434 more Representatives than we do.

I actually bipassed the higher taxes in MD by never changing anything but my postal address. I kept my old address for my car/insurance, etc. because MD was only a temporary stopover until I found a suitable property in VA to buy.

I grew up in MD, but have basically lived in VA for the last 25 years. A Virginian I'm proud to be!!

This part of the article REALLY pi$$ed me off!!

"The Council voted in July 2002 to exempt itself from its own parking regulations. The measure, coming after a year in which traffic enforcement officers had cracked down on illegally parked Council members' cars..."

I'd sure like to vote myself some nice perks like that!!
