Question Are there any reliable free POP3 email servers out there?

I have gone through 3 free POP3 email servers in the last two months in order to get a reliable account. I refuse to use Hotmail because I get inundated with spam soon after I open an account. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Which ones have you tried? Also, what kinds of reliability problems were you having? With all the viruses, worms, etc, maybe many e-mail servers have been suffering lately.

I've never had a problem with yahoo, but only check it once in a while (spam there too, but it's gotten quite a bit better recently).

As lietuviai, I've had constant problems with POP server emails, most notably Portland. For the last week, they've been down or returning any mail sent to that account, so I had to change everything over to a yahoo account, but would like a POP that I can download/archive on my own system.

BTW, lietuviai, the rest of your $'s are STILL "in process" in Paypal, will send as soon as they decide to release it as hostage.

Just tried it and it gave up after a while of downloading (with nothing downloaded) and now when I try to access Yahoo via the web, I get the following error:

"Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later.
Return to Yahoo!"

I, just like TomJ, have used mail.portland most recently. I have not been receiving any mail. I have used various overseas accounts and they have had the same problems. I prefer an account with POP3 access so I can just use my outlook program to receive my emails instead of having to log on each time to the particular website. Yahoo is OK but they charge extra for POP3.
I'll see what fastmail is all about.

I just checked fastmail and it looks like the charge for what I need.
