What TV shows do you watch?
 

Ever since getting a TIVO, other than to occasionally catch Frasier, which is on at dinner time, I don’t watch live TV. My other selections are West Wing, ER, Enterprise. What are good shows these days?

I watch American Idol (mostly to be incredulous at the vast pool of untalented individuals that feel they are worthy contenders for stardom)...:confused:

I'm not an intellectual, and when I do watch TV, it's to decompress...

...that said, my faves are "Monster Garage", "American Chopper" and "American Hot Rod" as well as a few offerings on HGTV.

Nice to know that the pros get hung up on stupid stuff in the same manner that I seem to find myself when I'm tooling around in the garage! ;)

The only regular shows that I ever watch are Enterprise, Six Feet Under, and Everybody Loves Raymond (reruns only)......

For stress relief, MASH, Drew Carey, and Home Improvement. Nothing new I've seen worthy of my "valuable time";)

The rest of the time is watching History Channel, Discovery, TLC, PBS, ect. I actually leave the TV on all night tuned to the History channel. (I can't sleep without some kind of noise in the room, and history is just dry enough to fall asleep to:D )

Seinfeld, South Park, Mail Call. I usually have the History Channel or Foxnews in the background while I'm working.

We get PBS- HD which we usually watch unless Tivo has something better to offer.

Of course we watch The Soprano's and Deadwood.

I watch a lot of Speed Channel....plus anything automotive...just love cars and shows about cars in general.

Speaking of 'General'....my favorite show in JH and SH was Dukes of Hazard, but I also liked Knight Rider, Miami Vice, Starsky and Hutch and some others. :D

I saw Daisy (from D of H) in person at a car show back in about 1978. Was disappointed. She's not near as pretty in person as she looked on TV.:rolleyes:

Law & Order, mostly in reruns, though I think I've seen every episode of all three series...
Boomtown when it is on - good storytelling and interesting characters.
Simpsons when I can - great stuff.
I dont plan to watch any tv, its usually only when I am done with whatever my two jobs require and I have a chance to sit down... after reading a while on here of course... and when I'm not reading a book... oops wait, I do plan and try to watch the Steelers play football when I can. (steelers fan potion is in the water in pittsburgh, and you can't avoid it, no matter how much you try to resist. It only hit me after college - I thought I'd escaped, but alas I have to talk with my parents about something...)

I got rid of my tv for a while, but when my folks came to visit they almost had a meltdown. My wife and I were happy with the set-up... did a lot more reading and gardening and fixed up my old volvo 122s... so the next Christmas we got a big TV from my parents as a gift! ha ha...

If I only had one channel, I'd take the History Channel.

I'll watch ER, but normally, I don't turn on the TV.

Rarely turn the TV on if I'm on my own, unless it's to watch a dvd or a documentary on the History channel, Discovery etc. My wife however has the goggle box on from when she gets home to bedtime. I usually retreat to the computer, then get told off for not wanting to spend time with her.
The only stuff we watch together is the Simpsons and King of the Hill, now that ER has got silly. She loves Law & Order and bloody Queer Eye, which I can't stand.
Thankfully we have BBC America so I can get some decent world news, and stuff from home, though most of the time they insist on showing constant repeats of home improvement shows! grrrr.

Enterprise, South Park (when I can catch it on), Simpsons, King of the Hill, Tripping the Rift (DON'T let your kids watch this!!), or local news. Most other TV time will be on History Channel, TLC, or Discovery. If all else fails, then I'll end up catching one of the endless broadcasts of STNG on Spike TV.

I agree. If I want to think, I read. Images and voices are brain chewing gum.

If something interesting politically has occured I like to hear what Chris Matthews has to say. Also Britt Hume & his "allstars".

I've tried to watch Dennis Miller, but he's still pretty painful as a host. He does get interesting people on board but his timing, good for comedy, is not "there" for serious discussion. I haven't given up on him yet.

24 is cool. Why hasn't it won lots of Emmies?

History Channel. Discovery. PBS. AMC. Foxnews, MSNBC, CNN. Rarely watch network TV anymore.

Finally, a plug for C-SPAN. Brian Lamb is great at interviewing. The interviews are always about the subject, not Lamb.

I like being able to hear the whole speech, not some goofy reporter's analysis--C-SPAN wins, hands down.

The panel discussions by various think tanks are often very insightful. C-SPAN.

You sound exactly like me! :) Thursday at 10:00pm is the only time you'll ever find me in front of a TV (except to watch the occasional tape or DVD movie).

The computer, OTOH... :rolleyes: At least I can pretend to justify my computer time by saying that I'm trying to help people out along with learning new things myself (on this site and on thedieselstop.com) ;)
