Does anybody know what those footrests are in the back seat? It looks like they are attached to the front seat... Are they original MB parts and if so anybody know the part numbers? I'm assuming they would fit my 88 420sel - does anybody have any idea?

Thanks

Peter

Bigpoppa,

Yes those items are footrests. They are original equipment, I believe for the 560's, but might have been available for other models. I don't know the part number. I have onle seen a few cars that still had the footrests...they tend to disappear much like the seat cushion inserts for the 108/109 center consoles.

Snibble, I'll beg to differ on white/grey being the perfect color combo I think dark colors and silver look best on MBs. A lot of people want black on black Benzes. Just an opinion.

Don't the foot rests block the heat vent under the front seat? Or is there no floor heat in the back?

Yes... that is really nice! The way the W126 was supposed to look (with the right bumpers)

I have two 81 SD's(one being used as a parts car now, but have wild plans for the body) with American bumpers and a Euro 86 SE with Euro bumpers when I park them side by side I'm not so sure that I don't like the looks of the American bumpers better !(how's that for going against the grain) one other thing about the American bumpers is that they proctect that expensive grill shell better...........

Of course I'm biased since I have a euro, but I do believe that the euros make the car look a lot sleeker and "tighter". The US bumpers give the look of longer overhangs, which I don't think looks as good. The 85 and before euro bumpers look kinda dinky, but when they brought the sides down in 86, they look great. Since I have painted my bumpers and side panels body color, people are shocked when I tell them my car is an 86 and has almost 200k on it. I wouldn't trade mine for a 140. However, I would trade for that 560 in a minute!!

For those who like the US bumpers better, can you imagine a 124 with the bumpers stickin out another 6 inches?? Makes ya wonder, if they could conform to US regs with the short integrated bumpers on a 124, why couldn't they have done that with the flagship of the time 126??

I can live with the bumpers on a 126, but I think the 116 and 107 bullbars are gawd-awful. Those things look more suited for a set of KC lights and a winch.

Speaking of grills, if anyone is looking for a 126 grille shell, I've got one.
