I never knew so many little old ladies owned so many MB's until I was doing some MB watching on Ebay. Would anyone be stupid enough to purchase a car from a saleperson that is selling 6 cars that were one owner little old lady cars? There are alot of people on this forum. Has anyone ever purchased a car from a little old lady?Happy driving.

One of the worst cars I ever bought was a 90 Cadillac Sedan De ville from a little old lady. It looked beautiful, but I found out the hard way little old ladies are generally pretty bad when it comes to scheduled maintenace, I thought the weqak brakes wouldn't be too bad, but when we pulled the wheels we found the rotors were all scored because the thing never got a change of pads. The lady must have been pushing that pedal to the floorboard for years That was $400. In addition, I had nothing but problems with the cooling system, which the mechanic said was from the radiator never getting a flush. I finally blew a head gasket on the freeway after the bottom literally fell out of the radiator. I fixed that to the tune of 2 Gs, and it never really ran right after that. I gave it to one of my kids, who had nothing but problems with it, and it now sits parked at his apartment. The car still looks beautiful. Its a beautiful piece of ****.

My second car was a "granny" car, acquired from my 90+ year old great-great-aunt. It was a 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle 4 door with an inline-6 engine, and I got it in 1998 with 50K miles on it. Beautiful condition overall, but I had nothing but problems with the engine. I think it was from 30 years (she bought the car new, and she was in her 60's then!) of sitting and babying around town too much.

I finally gave up after about 10K miles and 6 months of pouring $$ that I didn't have into the car. I never could get her to run right. After that, I'm real wary about "granny" cars...

The 1963 220S that I had, I purchased (in 1989) from a little old lady. The car sat in her garage for most of the 20-something years. Exterior wise the car was in great shape though the garage took its toll on the interior. Other than haveing the car entirely reapoltered, before I started running it my father and I took it into the shop and had all the gaskets and hoses changed in the engine. In the long run it was a good purchase but we had to put in a lot of cash upfront to make certain that we would not have problems.

My most beautiful car ever was purchased from a little old lady. The car was stunning and a true, genuine bargain.

The best cars I've ever owned were ones previously owed by professional pilots, both MB's. They have the money and the mechanical acumen, and they live by maintenance schedules like their lives depend on them, because in their business, there life does depend on them. I bought my 83 SL from a retired pilot who bought it new. My mechanic marvelled on what fine mechanical shape the car was in when I brought it in for it's first tuneup. He showed me where a great deal of preventive type maintenance had been done on the car, again another sign of the influence of avaiation maintenance practices. So, stay away from old ladies and stick with the fly boys.

I've also found that MB shops that cater to pilots are also better than average. Right now I'm using a guy across from Ellington Field in Houston who is the best MB and Porsche mechanic I've ever used.

Ditto that, my first eBay experience was a pilots 300 TE his name was Anderson I wonder if he is on the board....any who I call the service manager of his local MB dealer and he said the car is perfect ....end of story and if I don't buy it he will. I was outbid by a guy who then turned out to be a deadbeat and in the interim I bought a little ol ladies 300TE that only needed.

No thanks to lemon busters PPI. I ended up paying $20K for a $7500 dollar car.

A lot of these so called "perfect" ole lady cars also have a ton of bondo in em too as grandma plows down the neighborhood mailboxes when she forgets her meds. If you look at one, bring a magnet.
