Vote for me!!

After an organizing meeting this morning, it's almost offical (no press announcement yet, but coming...)

I'm running for office in the October municipal election. After several years of pressure from various sources, I have caved in. Long a believer that true change comes from without, not from within, I have decided to join the "other" side.

Here's my thinking...

1. During the campaign, I will get to yell at the other candidates from the podium, not just the audience. Sweet.

2. If I get elected I can yell at them at every meeting.

3. People can yell at me.

4. I will earn a salary! Wow! The giant sum of $16,000 per annum. Perhaps a new Porsche will be order?

5. My wife can laugh at me when I lose. She can laugh at me if I win, too.

6. For many evenings a month I will have an excuse to miss reality TV.

Seriously, my city is at a point where some careful planning for the future must be done. I want to be involved, and I think this might be a way.

Gotta run. Fundraising to be done...

(anyone wanta chip in $7K or so? That's the amount I need...)

John,
Any city would be better off with you helping to plan for the future!

Good luck! :)

John

You've got me confused now!
I always thought it was considered a pre-requisite for a politician to be a thief & a liar.
Since you don't strike me as either, you have a lot to learn in the next few months.
Maybe you could take a crash course from some that are currently in office. ;)

I am always doing things the wrong way. If politicians are thieves and liars, I guess I'll just have to NOT be. It's kinda my kooky way of moving through life. Like owning a sedan in a sea of SUV's.

I told my Dad this evening and he was a little shocked at the low pay, for something that is about a half time job. I reminded him of all the work I've done over the last five years, none of which paid anything. This is a real big career leap for me. I'd probably do it for free in an effort to shape our community. The pay is just gravy.

Now to see is anyone is actually nuts enough to vote for me.

Ditto. Post your website too, if you're planning on one. :)

Hi Black Mercedes

Hi John, good to hear good people getting involved in local politics. I have for some time now felt my tranny was not right on my Benz...92 300E 120 Kms Now I`m hearing it, and feeling a strong vibration on start - up. No Dealer in Red Deer John, who in Edmonton would you recomend...any private shops ?? I`ve had it in to Weber`s for something else...and felt they were OK, but, If there is a reputable private shop, I`d love to know about it. Many Thanks, Mike

Talk to Alnoor. Our out-of-warranty cars go there. When the 190E had an axle go bad, there was no way we wanted to pay $1300 at Weber plus install. All-in with Alnoor for a rebuilt unit was $450. W126 and W124 cars are his "forte" but he does a good job with all of them. On "normal" items (like brakes) he is only a little cheaper than the dealer (I do my own anyway), but on major issues, he can be a huge maney saver. Also, he doesn't assume your some fop that can't open the hood and will explain the problem to you.

If you're coming to town sometime, PM me, maybe we can have an orange juice...
