1990-1994 Jaguar XJ6..opinions?

What are your opinions on these cars? Are they any good, these were the first years bought out by ford. Whats the good and the bad?

Had a 92 XJS-V12. The Delco stickers plastered throughout the engine compartment verified that Lucas was no more...but somehow, the legendary electrical ills still seemed to plague the vehicle.

I think Lucas still provided some of the components despite the acquisition.

For me, the lamba sensors seemed to fail alot, and the climate control required almost full component replacement at an early life (compressor, evap, drier, hoses, etc.) This was at 40K miles!

Then again, the V-12 configuration probably had a more complex setup. XJ-6 owners didn't seem to complain as much...

I like them. Lot of car for the money. Stick with a 93-94. Despite their rep they were pretty reliable.

There nice cars my Grandparents had a 1994 a few years ago. Except for oil burning problems, valves? And AC problems it was an awsome car. I was thinking about one before the MB bug bit me, I wouldn't hesitate about buying a nice one. There a lot of car for the money and $5k-$6k should get you a nice low mileage example.

Yes, they dumped the Lucas nightmare, only to acquire components from the king of planned obselescence.

Jags are still a very high maintenance vehicle. If I were to own one, it would be a pleasure car only, and not a daily driver. That V-12, is second to none for smoothness, and I'd love to own one.
