StarMark Warranty

Hi All

How long is the average starmark warranty good for after you purchase your MB? Is it 5 years/100,000 miles?Or are there different plans/ Thanks.

There are a few different options, but basically you're looking at either one or two years after the experation of your factory warranty or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

I would do it during the factory warranty if possible. Stipulate when it would begin, but they are sigificantly cheaper that way.

There's quite a bit of Starmark information on the http://www.mbusa.com website.

Starmarking a vehicle adds one additional year of warranty. But the warranty is less comprehensive than the original new vehicle warranty. Starmark begins when the new vehicle warranty ends.

In addition, it is possible to purchase one, two, or three additional years of Starmark coverage. There are certain restrictions on the maximum age and mileage for extending Starmark. For example, to purchase three additional years, the vehicle must still be under the original factory warranty.

In addition, there are two grades of Starmark coverage. One is called component coverage; I forget the name of the other, but think it's powertrain coverage. The powertrain warranty is fairly basic - it covers the engine, transmission, etc, but few or none of the accessories. The component coverage is more comprehensive - it covers the air conditioning, for example.

Pricing for each Starmark option is listed right on the website.

And yes, I've been shopping for a Starmark car...
