traffic camera question

for those who live in california. grrrrr, I knew something seemed a bit weird when I saw these bright lights shining as I zipped through the intersection when it was yellow but turned red midway. it was a wide intersection. there was a car beside me, so maybe it triggered it. my questions are as follows:

1. is the front of the car snapped, back, or both?

2. how high is the resolution of these cameras? say yer front license plate is very faded or you don't even have one, can they zoom in on the vin or on a parking permit you have hanging in the rearview mirror, which might identify yer place of work or school?

3. I believe--in fact, I know--I entered the intersection when it was yellow, and it changed so quickly to red, and next thing I know, FLASH!

I am a very cautious driver and rarely try to beat yellow lights, and never run red lights intentionally. this happened at night, btw. how much is a redlight ticket? thanks.

Are you sure there was a camera? LEDs can be perceived to flash as they come on. A lot of people thought camera flashes were going off when stop lights were changed to LEDs in Santa Clara county.

From what I've read of red light tickets (meaning no scientifc basis), there's a reasonable delay in the camera mechanism. If the camera catches you, you entered the intersection well into the red.

The images can't be enlarged to read anything more than a license plate but they can use the make and model to 'clarify' a blurry plate image.

Fines are posted at most intersections with cameras. I've seen them as high as $272. I don't know if that's before or after gratuitous fees and assessments.

All the cars in the intersection is snapped.

the camera should snap you twice which means there should be 2 flashes.
The first snap will tell how far into the intersection when the light turned red.
The second snap will indicate how far you've moved away from the first snap.
They will determine if they will issue a ticket from these 2 pictures.

Probably the car behind you ran the red and triggered the sensors before the ped xing and got you into the picture.

Redlight ticket is $271+ 1 point on driving record.

fine can be reduced by going to court pleading guilty. Point can be erased by going to traffic school IF you haven't been issued to traffic school within the past year. OR if you don't have time for court(couple hours of waiting at least), you can hire a lawyer to go to court for you.
forgot if you have to go to traffic school if you hire a lawyer.

A defense

There was a succussful case against one of those lights cause the yellow was set shorter where there was a camera. The city had to return a years worth of fines.

And I think its closer to $350.
