Gas Guzzler Tax Poll

Several of the threads have reached a point where the arguments for the views have been well presented and the threads have now degenerated into discussions of speed boats and the posting of buzzard pictures and such, along with the usual name calling and mean spirited sniping, in short, democracy has been in action and it is now time to call for a vote. I'll start with the red hot Gas Guzzler Tax issue.

Wow Kirk, feeling poll-ish, are we?

Howdy All,
I didn't read the other thread so I don't know where the line was drawn for gas guzzler or non-guzzler.

Tired of threads that have become rehash and sniping grounds, this is a feeble attempt to put them to bed.

Right now, the law is applyed to cars only, those that get less than 20 mpg average are subject to a tax, but only when sold as new. This gives SUVs a loophole, because they are not considered cars, but trucks. The proposal is to extend the tax to all vehicles that get less than 20 mpg. A further proposal is to apply the tax to all gas-guzzling vehicles used or new, assessing a yearly tax on them, so that existing gas guzzlers are taxed as well, until they are essentially taxed out of existence, becoming essentially a luxury for those with the money to pay to have one only, like a Rolex watch for example. Revenue from these taxes would fund a national crash program to get off oil as a the mainstay power source.

I would think something like that would be exempt. These taxes are aimed at road vehicles.

Define "road Vehicle".

For guidance, seek the author of the definition of "assault weapons".

Alright, what's an SUV?

Is that a vehicle like oil exploration and production companies use to get personnel and equipment to jobsites?

WTF is up with all these polls, Kirk?

I really dont feel like repeating myself, as it has fallen on deaf ears anyway.
