Dating ideas, weekend getaways, and adrenaline ideas

1 Attachment(s)
This thread is somewhat related to Jentays thread...Ok... So you found someone who you are interested in and vice versa... what are some ideas for a romantic getaway or adventerous ideas?

1) Niagra Falls, Canada- One of my favorites. There is a awesome restraunt that oversees the falls, if you go at nightime, you will see the light show. You can have a romantic dinner, then walk down the streets and giftshops, and bars.

Since you and your date get to be in the car for hours (roadtrip) and little interuptions, you get to know the other person better.

2) skydiving- kisspass. This is when you kiss someone in midair, see my picture below. BTW thats not me in the pic. Nice adrenaline rush and something for her to brag to her friends about. Come on... How many girls made out at 118mph up in the clouds?

3) Swimming with dolphins- you can do this in places in florida. I would like to go swimming with sharks (me in a cage of course), let me know if you done it before.

4) Go on a cruise to the carribean- expensive, probably something i would do before i propose.

6) Winnipeg, Canada is a good place- interesting night life, friendly people, unique atmosphere

7) In downtown st.louis (and many other cities i am sure), they have those horse carriage rides through the streets.

8) Mile High Club- Self explanitory, probably not a good idea since 9/11.

Why do I like Canada? Gambling and drinking age is 19, so you get to expereince a "glimpse" of 21, if you are not already 21.

Now that I am 23, I might want to branch off to carribean, europe, and asia trips. But I feel they are too expensive for a "date", maybe if you were engaged or married it would be different you know?

So what kind of ideas do you have?

Nothing beats a three or full day weekend a full tank of gas and just drive until you get someplace.

Take a class together. A local college or university usually offers evening classes for continuing/Adult education.

Sign up for something interesting. Our first class togther was "Thursday Night Supper Club" at Emory. Hey, it guaranteed me four more dates! Plus, we made some friends out of the experience.

Our next class was "Christianity and World Religions". Once per week, we made an entire evening out of it. A quick dinner followed by mental stimulation and interesting conversation after the class.

Next, we'll be signing up for "Dance Instruction for the Bride and Groom" as we are getting married next year. She's also scheduled for "How to Plan a Wedding".

Find something that looks interesting and you can learn, experience and grow together. Good dates don't have to be expensive.

Good luck! :)

Well I can tell you to NOT take her to the NHRA Winter Nationals. Err, don't take her to NHRA anything. :)

Mr. Chan,

Your ideas are good. It should get you laid on the first date. But will that person love you as a person or your money?

Personally I would do something less expensive and more romantic. A walk on the beach, nice dinner, ride bike at a park, dance at a club, etc.

It has worked for me just fine.

exactly. that is why i insist on a drinks-after-work first date and not a dinner date.

it weeds out the nose pickers.

What about the toe suckers? Or are they eliminated on the second date? By the way, we had a guy on another thread who said he kept sticking his foot in his mouth. I referred him you.

I've been seeing this woman for about a month now. Last night, we had dinner at a local restaurant. After that, we drove to a local lake and walked around its trail. Sitting and watching the sunset was perfect. We then took a long drive through the country in her brand new Acura TL. Lots of fun, and we talked the entire time.

After that we returned, watched a movie, and snuggled on the couch. Perfect evening.

She's driving to my place right now. I'm making a salmon salad, then we have tickets to see Spiderman 2.

I'm not convinced that it's so important to do something incredible. When the two of you can do ordinary things and still completely enjoy each other's company, you've found a keeper!!

Johnson Chan,

I was wondering about how to take this one:

2) skydiving- kisspass. This is when you kiss someone in midair, see my picture below. BTW thats not me in the pic. Nice adrenaline rush and something for her to brag to her friends about. Come on... How many girls made out at 118mph up in the clouds?

I would actually assume the bragging rights would be about equal for the guy. Afterall, most of the guys doing this are making out with girls, aren't they? So, unless this is a routine of yours and you have done this several times with different women, wouldn't the population of women be about the same as the population of men who have experienced making out at 118 mph up in the clouds?

Interesting idea though. Jim

First of all, I am going to address Kirk:- Toe sucking is disgusting, not my thing, so dont refer him to me

As far as the first date, and how well you know the person... Well it does depend. It can depend on many things, for example, you been talking to a person on the internet for 3 years, but you never met in person before and she lives in a different state, how would you consider that?

I would NOT meet a girl at a bar and take her to Niagra Falls tommorow morning... Noooo.... Trust me, if ALL my dates where like this, i would have to sell my MB's and stocks to finance it, lol.

But every once in a while you meet someone who you know well enough and good enough to suprise her and do something spontaneous and out of the ordinary.

JRMD01- liking you vs. your money-- good point! To answer your question, I dont know...

Actually, it was addressed to jen, as an inside joke. She has a strict policy against them, and I was giving her a satirical ribbing. Myself, I have never partaken of or been the object of a toe suck. Feet belong on the floor, not in your mouth, my mom told me that years ago. In fact, I wrote a letter to my Senator a few weeks ago, demanding that toe suckers be prohibited from marrying each other. He is on the floor of the Senate now, denouncing Toe Sucker Marriage.

Well, ahem, isn't dating about taking a chance? I had a very nice date a while ago where, after we’d talked several times on the phone and by way of email, we met for our first actual date at the airport. Hopped a flight to Las Vegas for 3 very enjoyable days and nights together. We didn’t go out after that but still had a GREAT and most memorable time.

I think the key is to find a destination that provides enough diversion so that you get a chance to spend time in a relaxed, yet highly stimulating, and non pressured environment. Given a pleasant back drop, nature will run its course in a pleasant way. Oh, yeah, don’t be too, uh, “thrifty” Spend some money. Nothing says run away from someone quite like being a cheap-o. Another suggestion is to get a suite rather than 2 rooms. FWIW I like the Mandalay Bay, about 25 floors up with a wrap around strip view.

Prudence suggests one never have any fun but rather stick one’s rubber boot clad feet in the wet cement of caution. That’s like owning a Volvo, or a Camry, and part of why I never dated Prudence. But to party with Cindy, Karen, Julie and Hallie – Youbetcha! We’re talking dating and not a 30 year mortgage.... cough....cough ;)

Johnson Chan 07-22-2004 04:51 PM

tkamiya ,

Any hints that i might have mentioned about money were purely accidental. Can you give me some examples?

If you can tell me where I went wrong, I can change for the better, you know?

My philosophy on money is, it is not the most important thing in life. It can buy you options but never true happiness so to speak.
