I was not aware that Coleman was the definitive standard for the legitimacy of the AMS.

Study Finds Temperature Adjustments Account For ‘Nearly All Of The Warming’ In Climate Data

A new study found adjustments made to global surface temperature readings by scientists in recent years “are totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data.”

“Thus, it is impossible to conclude from the three published GAST data sets that recent years have been the warmest ever – despite current claims of record setting warming,” according to a study published June 27 by two scientists and a veteran statistician.

The peer-reviewed study tried to validate current surface temperature datasets managed by NASA, NOAA and the UK’s Met Office, all of which make adjustments to raw thermometer readings. Skeptics of man-made global warming have criticized the adjustments.

Based on these results, the study’s authors claim the science underpinning the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) authority to regulate greenhouse gases “is invalidated.”

Study Targets Adjusted Climate Data | The Daily Caller
Sounds to me like they do not agree with the adjustments made that the majority of scientists do agree with. I guess we will have to see what the arming is when they go back and look at the numbers and as more data comes in.

Haven't heard for Perry for a while now so I guess he was due to say something stupid and he did not let us down.

According to the head of the EPA who's scientific education stopped at animal husbandry has said that CO2 is not related to global warming/climate change.

The American Meteorological Society took issue with the statement and did not pull any punches with their reply.

https://theintellectualist.co/letter-attached-american-meteorology-society-to-rick-perry-you-dont-understand-science-2/

The AMS, in their letter, say skepticism is welcome:
In the interview you also mentioned that it should be quite acceptable to be a skeptic about aspects of the science. We agree, and would add that skepticism and debate are always welcome and are critically important to the advancement of science.
Yet, the very letter they sent contradicts this, suggesting that there is no debate nor room for skepticism about carbon dioxide being the primary driver of temperature change.

For the AMS to admonish Perry that there’s no room for debate on Carbon Dioxide as being the primary driver, is essentially to deny the process of science itself. Science is often right, and also often wrong, but just as often, it is self-correcting. If global warming hadn’t become such an entangled and messy social and political issue, it’s likely that science would have done some levels of self-correction on the issue already.

Science that fails to account for the possibility of being wrong is of no virtue.

The AMS should lead in science by setting an example, by showing that even in the face of overwhelming consensus on an issue, there must be room for doubt, and thus room for self-correcting science.

It only takes one finding in science to refute consensus, no matter whether it’s 97%, 99%, or 100%. Science is not infallible.

Did Perry present evidence to support his POV?

People are skeptical about the moon landing, the earth being round and that 9/11 was a terrorist attack.

But there's lots of money riding on the "AMS".

The AMS is a group. It does nothing. The members are the ones responsible. If Perry wishes to present an opinion he is more than welcome to do so as are you or anyone else.

I would suggest come with something more than "I don't believe it" and leave it at that. The above statement needs to be followed by "because" and then proceed to present evidence to support your conclusion.

As has been stated over and over again, scientist live for the day when they can prove the majority wrong.

Looks like John Coleman hit the nail on the head.

Sure. Coleman is the standard by which scientists are judged.

This does not make sense. How is it if one scientist screws up it is a condemnation of the entire profession and all the science related to the topic but of someone like ma be a head of state claims that something is a Chinese hoax, which is obviously nonsense, that this does not cast a pall over all deniers? Seems a bit hypocritical. Only thing that makes sense is that science is held up to an exponentially higher standard. That is a good thing. Not sure what standard the deniers are held too, if there is a standard.
