"We" includes all of "the people".

It's all just election related rabble-rousing.

Interest in the upcoming elections was not the fervor that is so profitable to the media conglomerates. The media conglomerates need the profits to lobby elected officials so that the elections don't matter. But why spend money if you don't have to? Put your own elected officials in office when possible.

Demographic groups vote in predictable patterns so "news" stories are patterned to stir groups to vote in patterns that deliver the desired results.

In reference to his home state (Mississippi?) in the deep south. True when he said it and true now in many minds.

True in the minds of people who can't get over the confederate battle flag.

On both sides of that issue.

Your interest in the issue does a poor job of refuting his statement.

Have you ever been to Mississippi? Do you even know anyone who lives there?
