FBI Leaker?

FBI General Counsel James A. Baker is purportedly under a Department of Justice criminal investigation for allegedly leaking classified national security information to the media, according to multiple government officials close to the probe who spoke with Circa on the condition of anonymity.

FBI spokeswoman Carol Cratty said the bureau would not comment on Baker and would not confirm or deny any investigation.

This comes as Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he would soon be making an announcement regarding the progress of leak investigations. A DOJ official declined to comment on Circa’s inquiry into Baker but did say, the planned announcement by Sessions is part of the overall "stepped up efforts on leak investigations."

IF he did do it, then he can join Reality Winner. Perhaps they can take some selfies together ... what a cute couple any male would make with Reality ...

Justice Department has always been notoriously slow investigating internal national security violations.

Easy enough to leave an encrypted flash drive in the right place for a member of the media to pick up. Good old-fashioned tradecraft works outside of the usual surveillance channels.

I bet that intelligence agencies are concentrating too much on electronic intelligence these days without realizing that things can be done the old-fashioned way. The tank of a public john in a restaurant can hold a lot of data And if cash is paid, devil only knows who went there.

The beautiful thing about encrypted USB drives is that the key can be posted online and look perfectly innocent. A Facebook profile picture, piece of music, etc.

One could even get creative and NOT have a physical dead drop. All one would need is a wifi network not connected to the Internet, but connected to a network drive holding files. Whenever the network name changes (say from FooHa00 to FooHa01), it means new info is present. All that's needed to download the info is a smartphone within 500 ft of the place where the wifi network is.

Who leaked the story about the DoJ investigation?

The fact that people can get so excited over a leaked story about an official being investigated for leaking without seeing the 500lb gorilla...

When will we quit loving the leaks we like and reviling the ones we don't?
It is such hyper-partisan hypocrisy, and reaching new levels everyday...

I applaud virtually all leaks, because 90% of the people in washington (I know, I'm feeling charitable this morning) are a bunch of crooks, thieves, liars and cheats, and the more we know about the shenanigans they are pulling, the more likely that the populace will wake up and quit sending them back to screw us some more.

This is the modern equal of a numbers station. And a lot cheaper to run.

I like leaks on unclassified stuff. Don't care about intent.

I agree if you're only talking about unclassified.

I agree, classified leaks are unacceptable... Except when criminal acts are classified as a method of keeping them secret.
I'm also not a fan of leaking classified intelligence, then declassifying it because you're POTUS...
