Welcome to Mars

The smoke is above the clouds here in the SF area.

It’s really dark outside and the sky is orange.

It doesn’t smell of smoke and air quality is moderate.

Holy crap, I looked at the clock, said 8:30, I think that can't be right, the sky out my window looked like dawn was just breaking.

The apocalypse is upon us. They're saying that smoke could descend later. I've got my respirator handy. Pretty strange that you can't discern a smoke smell at this time.

The weird thing is the pictures don't do it justice. The color practically hurt my eyes.

Could be worse and may become that way. I thought the media mentioned largest wildfires ever.

Was this for this event or year? Could easily impact a I lot of people with breathing issues.

It is smoky and hot here on the coast-very unusual. There is a rare offshore wind bringing heat and smoke from the interior.

The car is covered in ash. Went for a walk with a mask on.

Ash got in my eye a few times.

1000s of homes have been destroyed in Oregon.

I keep telling people to get one of these:

Can't smell smoke with one of these on. To be COVID compiant must put a mask over the exhale port - I figured a way to fix one in place. Looks funny but oh well.

Yea it looks like fog here. Rain here early next week so hopefully it will push the smoke away. I just met a couple moving from Ca to here from Willits-they are tired of the fires among other things. Bandon is the closest coastal town of substance to Ca.

We had lots of days like that in Ca.(Sierra Foothills) It was normal in late summer. We relied on the cool evenings to cool our house and could not open the windows at night. Smoke here has been replaced with pea soup fog.

You may need to resize your photos. There is lots of freeware for that purpose.
