Happy Thanksgiving (and two quick wine surveys)

Happy Thanksgiving to all. and, as my 3rd grade teacher always was sure to remind us prior to every holiday break.... You are what you eat!

cheers,
Kevin

Now, the quick surveys. What (if any) wine will you be serving with your bird today? AND, what was your fav. Beaujolais Nouveau this year?

Mine: Chateau du Cray Bourgogne Passetoutgrains 2002 (on the sommalier's rec. at the wine shop) Not an expensive bottle by any stretch, but she insisted it would be right with the bird... so, I'll give it a shot!

Beaujolais Nouveau?: Mommessin. not the least bit of grape-skin flavor ala Georges de Bouef... and it has a psychedelic 60s looking label for some unknown reason?!?

The de Bouef stuff is a pretty ordinary table wine. You'll find out when you try it. Actually the best of the beaujolais was a north-coast Gamay Beauj by Fetzer. Even though the Cal variety is not a true Gamay, it beat most of the froggie Gamays, so (according to legend and myth) they sued to keep California from labelling wine as "Gamay Beauj", so most of the vintners have re-named it Valdeguié

Quote: ("...Given the fact that almost nothing grown in California is true Gamay, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) has ruled that the name will no longer be allowed on wine labels starting in 2007.")

Try a Valdeguie sometime. It's a lighter, very easily drinkable red. Or with bird, I'd go with a better white zin (though I'm not much of a white drinker - I'd just as soon do a nice aged Bordeaux, but my budget calls for Ripple!)
