Interesting car on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6183&item=4516434635&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Never seen one in person, but its an interesting car. Looks good for its age. However looking into the engine bay just scares me.

I always liked the 4 door version with the turn signals comming off the top of the rear window. My dad always told me that the hydralics on those are a night mare. I saw a show on them on Speed channel. They showed the car driving on 3 wheels with one tucked up like a truck. That's an impressive ability to imperess your friends with.

Citroen Sport Maserati......Had on once, very comfortable but a mechanic's nightmare with 3 timing chains in a motor turned back to front PLUS the famous? Citroen hydropneumatic suspension system, let's not even get into that stale kettle of kippers.

Prone to overheat, timing chains needed replacement 60,000 miles, timing CHAINS mind you,not belts!

What's the deal with foot pedals on that car. It says it's a standard transmission but I only see two foot pedals.

There was three. The clutch pedal is the "normal" looking one. The brake pedal pokes up out of the floor like they used to do in the old 30's 40's and 50's cars. The gas pedal is the only one you don't see in the picture.

When I went with my wife to visit her family in Germany, we took a trip to what was formerly East Germany. Although, I saw quite a few nice new cars, I still saw quite a few Trabants. I would love to get one that was in great shape and ship it to the US and put a better engine in it.

You wanna see some extraordinary Eastern Bloc cars? do a search on Tatra, They were in production until fairly recently.

These very advanced, groundbreaking autos were ahead of their time in many respects.

I briefly owned one years ago,a 1936.Rear mounted AIR COOLED hemi head V8!! I think it was a model 77 or 78,Looked like Buck Roger's car. Fast little mother, beat the pants off a Regal Grand National at a stoplight in Pennsylvania.

Wound up skipping a timing chain sprocket. At that time{late 80's} it had 245,000 on the clock.

Damn, that Tatra is one exotic set of wheels. Here are some pictures. I'd buy one of those in a flash. Did they make any diesels?
