I have to say that this post is pretty accurate as a broad brush statement. The current R's getting the spotlight except perhaps Romney are spouting all of the above.

Our long time senator Richard Lugar here in Indiana is a true moderate statesman who is, I believe, respected on both sides of the aisle in the senate and who has supported D presidents at times when he thinks they are moving in the right direction. As thanks for his moderate policies he will be challenged in the primary here by a well funded person who will spout retoric as Jim has enumerated above.

Any R wanting to be a moderate and centrist will be attacked as if he is a D and be named a Liberal and socialist.

I see the current R party as being very destructive to our country and the world. Many have as a goal destroying the government of our country as they see it as the enemy because it takes taxes to run. In its place they have some utopian idea which will not work on the world stage and will be regressive and damaging to anybody who is not already very very wealthy on our domestic side.

In the mean time their actions have jeapordized the world economy if indeed it is not fair to say their actions have already caused the recession/depression we are all suffering through.... throught the wars and the collapse caused simply by greedy financial maneuverings.

I don't see anything the mainstream R's are spouting as being helpful to our situation..... unless you consider death a cure for the common cold.

Ben Nelson (D-NE) announced yesterday that he's folding his losing hand (read: "I want to spend more time with the family") and has decided not to run for re-election. This makes the number of Democratic senators who aren't running for re-election SIX. The broader Senate picture for 2012 shows that 23 Democratic Senators (or current seats) are up for re-election, while the Republicans are only defending 10 !! I wouldn't take odds that the Senate remains controlled by Democrats in another year.

If R's control Congress, what gets done? What gets funded?? Maybe, just maybe, it'll be like the mid 90's when the WH & Congress worked together under Clinton & R's in Congress and got a few things done. But I doubt it. (Co-operation, that is)

So, Jim, a suggestion: copy and paste your above sentiments to your desktop. You may save yourself a lot of time typing, if such an election calamity occurs.

Nelson is the most hated Democrat, by Democrats. In fact, the man is a liar when he calls himself one.

I'm not real worried about the Democrat's chance in the Senate since the GOP is doing a marvelous job of showing how anti-women, anti-Hispanic and anti-middle class they are. The GOP is just one big choir singing to itself.

Most hated? Wasn't he vote number 60 for Obamacare? His extortion aside, without him, there's no HIPPA. He should be carried back to Nebraska on Reid's shoulders. Obama should nominate him for the Medal of Freedom.
82% of the time he toes the party line? Not good enough? No free thinkers allowed on that side?

We shall see.

At least Paul is honest -- and his castratory instincts will be tempered by Congress if he wins. I may not agree with his views on the size of government, but I wish him all of the luck in the world. As compared to lying sons of whores like Gingrich, Romney, and Perry, the guy's a saint. If it has to be one of the candidates, hoping it will be him or Huntsman in 2012. If not them, then Obama.

Sadly, I have zero faith in the American people not to elect another neocon assh**e.

I find it hilarious a supporter of the current GOP clown circus is concerned about "free thinkers".

Let me correct myself. Without Ben Nelson, there is no PPACA. You will always have the most hated Democrat to thank for it. Think freely about that.

Some may dispute that given his recent walking back from his past publications and the support he's gotten in the past from the John Birch Society, survivalist, racist and other groups.

NEVER vote for Republicans.
All largely true. However, you're leaving out that Democrats want to raise taxes, punish success, prevent much economic activity for "environmental" reasons, restrict 2nd Amendment freedoms, prevent learning and discipline in education, restrict freedom of expression, restrict consumer choice, and be soft on crime.

So the short version is: Republicans are generally bad; Democrats are generally worse. Choose the lesser of two evils.

Or you could do like I do sometimes and vote Libertarian.

Siding with NEA, opposing school vouchers, and charter schools, and have you seen some of the curricula and textbooks they come up with? As bad as the right-wing kooks in Texas, if not worse.
