I watched a two hour special on it recently. The military advisors to the President only gave it a 50% chance of success. Obama decided to go for it.

That's Obama for you. 50% chance? He falls in a bucket of s#i+ and comes out smellin' like a rose.

Who do you think should be cast as Osama bin Laden??!!! And his wives?

Obama would cast well in that role. He's probably the best actor in politics and that's really sayin' somethin'.

I think Biden was just saying something the crowd wanted to hear. Sort of like Santorum saying that in Denmark old people are given wristbands that tell Doctors 'No more health care for this person'. No truth to it, but the crowd eats it up.

I have always heard Hannibal crossing the Alps was the greatest military feat in all of history but then I hear a lot of stuff. I'm not trying to steal the thread here but I would like to expand it: Anyone here attend a military school like West Point? What did, or do, they teach as the greatest of all time?

I would have to weigh in on the side of the Chinese civil war of the 1860's when the largest army in the world was destroyed by one of the smallest through no more than letting the large army destroy itself while trying to conquer the smaller one. The large army did not give up. They were sucked into a trap that took about a year to set-up.

And then it was all over in a day or two and China, briefly, became one country.

The first rule of being successful is not being afraid to fail.

Worked out well too.

As far as falling in a bucket of waste and coming out smelling good, you have described his presidency in a nutshell. He is working through the huge problems he was saddled with by his predecessor.

I gotta side with the "Biden wouldn't know an audacious plan if it bit him" crowd.

"No more than 50% success to get OBL?" Heck, that's a no-brainer gimme of a decision. How much of a percentage do you need to go after Bad Guy #1?

Sending US troops into a hostile country? That's what the CINC does, and every president since, maybe Hoover(?) has done it.

Hyperbole from Biden. An audacious plan would be pulling out of Afghanistan unexpectedly; or lobbing a few conventional-tipped ICBMs with bunker busters into Iran. Those would be CRAZY audacious!

They don't teach anything as the "greatest" of all time. That'd be too dogmatic. It would also be highly situational. The most mythic is, of course, Thermopylae, and they lost. Navy guys teach naval battles (Trafalgar, Midway); Army guys teach land battles (Waterloo, Battle of the Bulge, Blitzkrieg); amphib landings have their place, too (D-Day, Inchon, Iwo Jima). Your common themes might be odds of success versus consequences of failure, and maybe whether it's an "optional" fight or not.

Don't confuse the Netherlands with Denmark please; we, the Dutchies are the ones that murder our oldies.

Biden ain't all that bad and he sure ain't dumb. He just says dumb things sometimes. Like calling his boss "clean and articulate." When he's not off in the lala land of hyper partisanship he's a pretty thoughtful guy and an honest negotiator.

Yeah he's got somebody to blame for everything. I'd really like to hear him say the buck stops here for once.
