I too know some truly fine people who are Catholic... can't fathom how they can claim affiliation with that particular sect and still be outwardly normal.

I don't think so, but if there is such a war I can promise you that I'm not a soldier in it. I have strong ideas about what is right and wrong and argue about them alot but I don't try to force my right and wrong on someone else.

If all the non believers would be the same way in the other direction, the more people could be happy.

Christianity in all it's iterations is, along with Islam, unique in one respect; many of it's adherents don't believe they are being good christians unless they take up the cause of spreading the word. "Bringing people to the lord".

Responding to their preaching doesn't necessarily constitute a "war".

The proplem is when someone meddles by asking for laws and control that are faith based and nit need based which controls others who are not of that sad faith.

Exactly, I don't believe it's the atheist or agnositics that are pushing state legislatures to require ultrasounds before a woman obtains a legal abortion; it's not atheists or agnostics requiring that certain subjects be taught in public schools; certainly not atheist or agnostics leading the charge against same sex marriage licenses.
